Meet Paul-michael Coulson of Paul Coulson Coaching LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul-michael Coulson

Hi Paul-Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been passionate about athletics from a young age, starting with t-ball and then moving into soccer, swimming, and football. In college, I shifted my focus to rugby and CrossFit, which is when I really began to understand the role of nutrition in high performance.

After suffering some injuries, I found my way to Pit Fitness, where the owner, Rob, gave me the chance to get my personal training certification and start coaching. Eight years later, I’m still coaching there, loving the supportive community and the impact I get to make.

Becoming a father at the end of 2023 sparked a big realization for me. I wanted to expand my fitness passion beyond classes and private clients and build something of my own. That’s how Paul Coulson Coaching came to life.

Paul Coulson Coaching focuses on functional performance, which means designing training programs that enhance mobility, strength, and overall longevity. The goal is to keep individuals feeling athletic and performing well at any age. My approach integrates movements that improve both aerobic and anaerobic systems, supporting healthy cardiovascular function and promoting long-term well-being.

When I say former athletes, I’m referring to anyone who, at some point in their life, was active in sports or had the drive to be. These individuals often crave that push and challenge, and I tailor the programs to meet those needs while supporting their health and fitness goals.

Balancing my roles as a firefighter paramedic, husband, and father with growing my business is a challenge I embrace. I’m excited about the future of Paul Coulson Coaching, aiming to expand my online client base while providing high-quality, personalized service. My goal is to inspire and support my clients, showing them that with the right mindset and dedication, they can achieve anything.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been entirely smooth. One of the most significant challenges I faced was losing my father at the end of 2021 due to COVID. His passing was sudden and deeply painful, something many families can relate to.

In 2022, I took a year off from training to focus on healing and rediscovering myself. During that time, I explored self-help, yoga, and jiu-jitsu. Although the loss still affects me, I’ve found healing and growth through these practices. My father’s legacy inspires me to keep pushing forward and dreaming big, and it’s a driving force behind everything I do today. His influence is a cornerstone of my commitment to Paul Coulson Coaching and to helping others achieve their own goals.

As you know, we’re big fans of Paul Coulson Coaching LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that consistency is key. Success doesn’t come overnight; it’s the result of persistent effort and dedication. I’ve also learned that sacrifices are sometimes necessary to achieve your goals, but maintaining balance in work and life is crucial to avoid burnout.

Finding time for self-reflection and spending quality moments with friends and family has been essential. Being present in those moments has helped me stay grounded and focused. Additionally, I’ve learned the importance of pushing through uncertainty and having faith in the outcomes, even when the path isn’t always clear. These lessons have shaped my approach to both my personal life and my coaching practice.
