Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Meyster
Hi Anna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a Ukrainian-born artist living and working in Miami. My journey to becoming a full-time artist and starting my art business, Anna Meyster Art LLC, in the US has been all about following my lifelong passion for art. Moving to the US a few years ago, I was drawn to Miami’s vibrant arts scene and its welcoming vibe. It was the perfect place to bring my vision to life. I found so much inspiration and support from local artists and galleries along the way.
Getting here from Ukraine has been challenging but so rewarding. As a kid, my favorite toys were crayons, paints, and brushes, which kicked off my lifelong love of creating art. Before setting up my art business in Miami, I had some amazing experiences living in the UK, Austria, and Spain, and built a strong background in media and marketing. I went from being a TV host at MTV Ukraine to a successful marketing director at an international tech company. These roles really helped me build the skills I needed for the business side of my art career.
My art degree from King’s College London polished my artistic abilities and blended my love for both art and business. In 2022, I moved to the US, where everything came together, allowing me to follow my dream and launch my art business.
I work in a contemporary figurative style, aiming to spark a conversation between the art and the viewer. My work is all about inspiring self-reflection, contemplation, nostalgia, and dreams, tackling deep questions in a fun and accessible way. I often explore themes like reconnecting with your inner child, true desires, memories, happiness, and the fleeting nature of life.
My business isn’t just about selling art; it’s about offering services to create visual art concepts for both businesses and individuals. I take a highly personalized approach with my clients, developing art concepts that reflect their values and stories. For example, I create unique art concepts for homes that tell the owner’s story throughout the space, or develop concepts for hospitals and commercial buildings that resonate with everyone who visits.
This journey, fueled by my passion for art and desire to inspire others, has been incredibly fulfilling. Miami has become my creative haven, and I’m excited to keep growing my art business here, contributing to the vibrant local arts scene while following my lifelong dream.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a long journey, and like any meaningful path, it’s had its ups and downs. But I’ve come to appreciate the challenges—they’ve helped me grow, both as an artist and as a person. They’ve pushed me to understand myself better, to really tune in to my inner dreams, and to focus more clearly on my goals.
One of the most difficult moments was when the full-scale war broke out in Ukraine, my home country. It was a turning point that shook everything I knew and made me question so many things about life and humanity. It was a time of deep uncertainty and pain, but it also gave me a new perspective on my art and the messages I want to convey.
Through it all, I’ve been learning how to not overthink my creative process, to be kinder to myself, and to let go of the need for perfection. Trusting the universe and allowing things to unfold naturally is something I’m still working on, but I’m getting there.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth, but every challenge has shaped me and my work in meaningful ways. These struggles have pushed me to grow, to reflect, and to keep moving forward, and I’m grateful for the lessons they’ve taught me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As an artist and the founder of my art business, my mission is to help people tell their stories—whether it’s sharing their pain, beliefs, values, admiration, or dreams—through the powerful medium of art. I specialize in creating artworks and developing art concepts that can transform spaces, convey profound messages, and add character to any environment. I firmly believe that art is a powerful tool for communication, a way for us to connect with one another on a deeper level.
One of my most recent collections, called ‘TOYS,’ really embodies what I’m all about. This collection celebrates the innocent, joyful moments of childhood and invites viewers to reconnect with the inner child we all carry within us. It serves as a bridge between the nostalgic memories of our younger years and the reality of adulthood, which can sometimes feel weighed down by stereotypes and restrictions. While the artworks in this collection are bright and playful on the surface, they hold deep, thoughtful messages beneath.
What I’m most proud of in my work is the way it invites viewers into a shared dialogue. I see art as a conversation between the artist and the observer, and I aim to create pieces that inspire reflection, nostalgia, and even a bit of introspection. My work isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a connection, sparking memories, and encouraging people to look a little deeper.
I’ve had the incredible honor of showcasing my work during Miami Art Week and being represented in galleries across Florida and beyond. Seeing my art resonate with people, not just in the U.S. but also in Europe, fills me with pride and excitement. It drives me to keep creating and sharing my vision with a global audience.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe the most important quality for my success is staying in love with life and the world around me. It’s about maintaining that sense of wonder and not losing the inner child within myself. While technical skills and qualifications are crucial, I think it’s equally important to learn how to truly “see” the beauty in the world and let that inspire your work.
Another key factor is balance. In the creative sphere, there’s often a misconception that inspiration will just strike out of nowhere, and that’s when you create. While there’s certainly some magic in that process, success also requires a balance between creativity and structure. It’s about being consistent, having a strategy, and following a plan, even when it feels like those things might clash with the creative flow. For me, this balance is crucial—it allows the magic to happen within a framework that supports long-term success.
