Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Berger.
Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began with a deep-seated passion for mental health and healing, which I wanted to bring into the music industry. My goal has always been to create a space for artists and industry professionals to work on their craft and focus on their well-being. I wanted to foster a community where people could connect, heal, and grow together, recognizing the importance of mental health in their creative processes. The idea for a mindful recording studio came from my personal experiences and the needs I saw in the industry. Traditional studios often lacked an environment conducive to healing and creativity. Dark rooms with no natural light and an atmosphere unsuited for vulnerability and authenticity were standard. I wanted to change that by creating a welcoming, safe, and nurturing space—a home away from home. I invested my money and heart into building Mindful Music Lab. This space offers recording sessions and holistic healing services like Reiki energy healing, sound bowl therapy, meditation, movement, and mindset coaching. We host community events and provide a platform for both signed and independent artists, authors, and healers to create and collaborate. Throughout this process, I’ve been driven by a commitment to support women in the industry, providing them with opportunities to thrive in a supportive environment. My journey has been about more than just creating music; it’s about fostering a culture of mindfulness and mental health in the music industry. It’s been a challenging yet rewarding path, filled with learning, growth, and unwavering dedication to my mission.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The journey has had its share of challenges. Building something from the ground up, especially something as unique as the Mindful Music Lab, would only take a little work. One of the biggest hurdles was the financial aspect. I invested my money into this venture, which meant making sacrifices and taking risks, all while believing wholeheartedly in the vision.
Another significant challenge was navigating the music industry itself. It’s a space that can often be resistant to change, and introducing concepts like mindfulness and mental health into the mix requires a lot of perseverance. I had to continuously advocate for the importance of these elements and educate others on why they were so crucial. Another challenge was creating a welcoming and safe space for everyone, especially women. The music industry has historically been harsh on women, and building an environment that could counteract those negative experiences took careful planning and a lot of heart. I wanted to ensure that anyone who walked into the Mindful Music Lab felt seen, heard, and valued.
On a personal level, balancing multiple roles and responsibilities was also demanding. As a mindset coach, energy healer, wellness programmer, facilitator, artist, and entrepreneur, wearing many hats meant long hours and constant hustle. Sometimes, the workload felt overwhelming, but my passion for the mission kept me going. Despite these struggles, every challenge has been a learning experience, and each step has brought me closer to realizing the dream of creating a mindful, healing space within the music industry. It’s been a journey of growth, resilience, and unwavering commitment to positively impacting.
Thanks. What else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At the heart of my work is a unique approach to integrating mental health, mindfulness, and healing into the music industry. I established Mindful Music Lab, a pioneering initiative that fosters a safe and nurturing environment for artists and industry professionals to create, connect, and heal together.
One of my recent and most significant projects is my album, ‘MIND FULL,’ set to launch on August 8th, coinciding with the Lionsgate Portal. This date holds special significance as 2024, in numerology, adds up to the year 8. As a Leo and a life path number 8, the number 8 symbolizes infinity, perfectly aligning with the album’s theme. ‘MIND FULL’ comprises 8 tracks, each meticulously crafted to activate different chakras, frequencies, and beats, leading listeners on a profound journey through their mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical selves. My journey into music and writing was not a planned one. The creative process unfolded naturally, leading me to create an album and write a book. ‘MIND FULL’ is designed to be experienced as a whole or through individual tracks, depending on the listener’s resonance. The first two tracks encourage movement and confidence, while tracks 3-8 are best experienced in a grounded state with closed eyes. Tracks 6 and 7 invite listeners to chant and sing, helping to open their throat chakras.
I’m incredibly proud of our positive impact, helping individuals on their healing journeys and supporting their creative endeavors. My mission is to change the culture of the music industry, making it a more mindful, supportive, and positive space for everyone involved. “MIND FULL” is a testament to this mission, and I believe it will help many people awaken, activate, flow, and heal on their harmonic life journeys.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
My perspective on risk-taking has evolved. I no longer believe in risks but taking chances, as every chance is an opportunity. I don’t bet on myself; I believe in myself, and that belief is much more powerful. This mindset shift has profoundly impacted how I approach challenges and opportunities. One significant change I took was investing my money to create the Mindful Music Lab. This was a financial investment and a personal and emotional one. It was a leap into the unknown, driven by a vision. Despite the challenges and uncertainties, I sincerely believed in the mission and the potential impact it could have. Another significant change I took was creating my album, “MIND FULL.” This project was an unexpected path for me. I embraced it fully. This project is a testament to the power of believing in oneself and seizing opportunities that align with one’s purpose. Infinite possibilities are woven throughout the album.
