My journey from growing up in Lauderhill, Florida’s St. George Community to where I am today is nothing short of exhilarating! Raised with strong values of hard work and determination by my parents, I quickly learned the importance of resilience and perseverance. Despite facing challenges early on, including becoming a mother as a teenager, I embraced these experiences as opportunities for growth.
After graduating from Dillard High School, I pursued my passion for education at Florida Memorial University, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Education in 2008. This marked the beginning of my fulfilling career with Broward County School District, where I spent over 16 years shaping young minds and making a lasting impact in the classroom.
Simultaneously, my journey in real estate began in 2002 when I became a licensed Realtor®. While my formal training started then, I had been immersed in the world of property management, development, and building through the guidance of my father for years prior. This dual expertise in education and real estate has uniquely positioned me to understand both the academic needs of our community and the intricacies of the housing market.
In 2023, I embarked on a new chapter as a professor at Broward College, continuing to educate while expanding my role in real estate with Elite Realty Partners, Inc. My strong faith in God has been the cornerstone of my journey, guiding every decision and inspiring me to give back to my community. I am proud to be establishing the LaToya S. London Foundation, Inc., dedicated to supporting the unhoused and providing essential resources through my own efforts and network.
Now, as a candidate for City of Lauderhill Commissioner, Seat 3, I am fueled by excitement and passion to lead our community into a bright future. My goal is to bring new opportunities, enhance safety measures, and unite Lauderhill in prosperity. My journey has been far from smooth, yet every challenge has been a catalyst for growth and resilience. Early in life, I faced personal struggles and made decisions that led me down difficult paths. Balancing motherhood with pursuing my education and career as a teacher and realtor was demanding, especially as a single mother. Financial hardships, navigating the complexities of real estate, and the demands of community service presented their own set of challenges.
Transitioning into a public figure in my community and running for office has been particularly daunting. I’ve had to confront skepticism and scrutiny, acknowledging past mistakes and working tirelessly to prove myself worthy of trust and leadership. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, forgiveness, and a deep commitment to serving others.
Through it all, my faith in God has been my anchor, guiding me through adversity and inspiring me to persevere. Each obstacle has strengthened my resolve to make a positive impact and to continue striving for excellence in all facets of my life and service to my community.
