Hi Rafael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Venezuelan, I am an attorney, for over 23 years I did my practice, unfortunately one of my cases turned into a threat and a menace against my life and my family, which lead me to make the hurtful decision to leave my country. It’s been 6 years now.
My beginning was not much different as many immigrants in Miami. starting from zero. At first I started working with landscaping, I have to say; I share my respect with the workers in that field or at any job at the open under the sun.
I worked over a month, when I got the call from a special family friend, asking if I was interested to work at The Ups Store (part time and for the season). I agreed. Long story short; within a year I became assistant manager, Notary Public and I was managing three different stores. I was fine and happy, working with good people but I wanted to be better and keep growing.
Winter 2019: I got the license to sales insurances, I started my Notary Mobile business and got the Notary Signing Agent certification, I was ready to work with the real estate industry. I did my first closing on April 2020, during the pandemic business was booming so, I took advantage and marketed my business to every title company in my area and trough social media offering my mobile notary closings services. I quit to my job as assistant manager and put all my effort to build the business. I haven’t stop since then.
For over 4 years I’ve completed successfully more than 3k closings with a high professional level, I count with more than 50 clients between title companies and attorneys.
As of today we are the owners of ROCKET NOTARY and MIGRA LEGAL. Proudly we provide Notary services to the real estate industry nationwide (We hire notaries all over the country) and migration services as document preparer for my Venezuelans country mates.
I haven’t done this by myself. Without my family’s support nothing would be achieved. My wife and business partner Alida, my daughters Sophia and Samantha are my motivation; they are like fuel sparking all my engines. It wasn’t easy for them and I admire the way they did they part as a team everyone in their specific battle field. My wife became manager at her job in just 3 months! Today we are business partners and working together. My daughters learned English from zero assuming a whole new studying system and as of today Sophia is attending the FIU aiming to become a Lawyer and Samantha is attending her junior year in High school.
I said to myself everyday “I’m blessed”, I’m thankful to God for all its blessings, I’m thankful to this wonderful country and it’s people for its protection and for provide opportunities to grow even for the immigrants. To all our clients for their business and support Thank you!
In the near future I’m planning to go back to law school to do the Juris Doctor program at FIU and be able to practice the law in the United States. If you want my advice; learn English, study and prepare yourself and never stop dreaming.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t. Nothing comes easy. Opportunities are there, but Specially for immigrants are a little harder to catch them. We must struggle with the migrations status, procedures and courts hearings. As Immigrants we must struggle also with the emotional roller coaster involved with process of migrate and start from zero with a family. We must learn a new language and a new life system and many of us are not in our twenties anymore, so, the time is shorter to achieve goals or dreams, that’s why you can’t take brakes. You have to give the 100% and more.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The information you need is out there. Whatever you want to do, research, investigate and try to connect with people related with the environment, dig in the social media; you can find successful people who shares advises based in their personal experience and how they achieve their success.
Spend money, invest in your business; your web site or social media, promotional material, business cards, shirts, flyers, folders, etc, but don’t spend on things you don’t need or not related to your business.
