Linzi Martinez CPT, INHC, BA

Hi Linzi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a health and wellness professional began in 2004 when I moved to Florida with three young children, determined to build a life that made a significant difference in others’ lives.

From a young age, I believed that true happiness comes from giving of yourself—your time and nurtured talents—not material possessions. This belief shaped my career path and personal mission.

Once my children started school, I pursued my passion for health and wellness by becoming a personal trainer and integrative nutritional health coach. My focus was never on helping people become super thin but on guiding them to achieve incredible health, feel vibrantly alive, and live their best lives. I discovered that taking care of the body at this fundamental level breeds a profound confidence that permeates every aspect of life, transforming individuals in remarkable ways. Witnessing these transformations became my addiction, as I cherished being part of someone’s journey from sadness, low energy, and discomfort to feeling vivacious and excited about life again.

After several years in the field, I had the privilege of working with The Evert Tennis Academy, where I trained tennis legend Chrissie Evert, tennis star Madison Keys, and other notable athletes. This experience enriched my career and expanded my expertise.

An interview on an internet TV show marked a pivotal moment in my career. The producers offered me my own show focused on health and fitness, which ignited my passion for reaching a larger audience. The show, “Happy Healthy Stronger,” quickly gained traction, reaching 100,000 households. Motivated by this success, I created a three-part television series that aimed to transform the lives of ordinary people, demonstrating the profound impact of health and wellness on overall happiness and quality of life.

The series featured three ordinary people from my community with different health issues, showing the world how they could achieve remarkable transformations. Despite having no prior experience in producing or directing a television show, my burning drive to make a difference propelled me forward.

To prepare, I went back to school to learn the latest nutritional and fitness information and engaged on social media daily for a year, offering free advice on nutrition and fitness to build trust and gain sponsorship for my venture. This strategy paid off, and the “Happy Healthy Stronger Makeover” was a huge success. The contestants achieved incredible goals—coming off medications, reaching healthier weights, and feeling beautiful.

The show won several awards, including Best Documentary at the Miami Webfest, Best Host, and Honorable Mention at the International Film Festival of Manhattan. It was also officially selected in festivals in Toronto (my hometown) and Los Angeles (a personal goal). This success set everything I currently do in motion.

As I approached 50, a new mission emerged. I realized that this stage of life was an incredible time for achieving dreams that seemed out of reach in my 20s and 30s. I wanted to share this revelation with others, particularly women, to show them that after 50, it’s a time to focus on themselves and pursue their dreams.

This inspired the creation of “The Prime Time” TV show. Encouraging women to embrace this phase of life, rev up, and love their lives was deeply meaningful to me. Co-hosting, producing, and directing the show on NBC was an incredible experience, and I was overwhelmed with happy tears when it aired.

Continuing my education, I went back to school for nutrition and have since been writing articles for Women Fitness, Muscle Magazine, Lifestyle Mag, and more. I’ve also been featured on the Discovery Channel several times and plan to launch my own health and wellness show soon.

During covid, I began a group on Facebook called In-home Fitness with Linzi Martinez offering free fitness and nutritional information, The group has since grown to thousands and continues today. It has won several awards and has been featured on ESPN. This has been life changing for me as well: The groups participants span across the globe, allowing me to make a wonderful impact and connection to the most beautiful people.

Additionally, I published my first book – Recipes for Instant Weight Loss – healthy Alternatives to your Favorite Foods. I book comprised of many of my nutritional program clients’ recipes! Available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble – this was a huge feat for me!

Helping others achieve happiness through the best self-care has been my life’s mission, and the gratitude I have for this path is immeasurable.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
My journey has certainly not been smooth. Moving to Florida in 2004 with three young children and starting anew as a single parent was a significant challenge. Balancing the demands of raising my children while trying to build a career from scratch required immense determination and resilience.

One of the earliest struggles was finding a way to make a meaningful impact in the health and wellness field without any initial connections or reputation. I had to work hard to establish myself as a personal trainer and nutritional health coach, often facing skepticism and competition in an already crowded market.

Transitioning from personal training to working with high-profile clients at The Evert Tennis Academy was another hurdle. The pressure to perform at an elite level and maintain the trust of well-known athletes was immense, requiring me to continually prove my expertise and dedication.

The biggest challenge came when I decided to move my career to television. Producing and directing a television show with no prior experience was daunting. I had to learn the ins and outs of the industry on the fly, balancing creative vision with logistical realities. Funding the show was another significant obstacle. I had to go back to school to update my knowledge and spent a year on social media, offering free advice to build a following and attract sponsorships. This period was exhausting and filled with uncertainty, as there was no guarantee of success.

Despite these efforts, the pressure to deliver a successful show was enormous. There were moments of doubt and fear of failure, but my drive to make a difference kept me going. The success of the “Happy Healthy Stronger Makeover” show brought relief and joy, but it was also a testament to the hard work and perseverance required to overcome these obstacles.

Even after achieving success with my initial show, launching “The Prime Time” TV show came with its own set of challenges. Balancing the roles of co-host, producer, and director while ensuring the show’s message resonated with a broader audience was no small feat. The emotional journey of seeing my vision come to life on NBC, especially with the added pressure of meeting network standards, was both exhilarating and overwhelming.

During COVID-19, I faced the challenge of staying connected with my audience while in-person interactions were limited. Creating and maintaining the In-home Fitness Facebook group, which provided free fitness and nutritional information, required daily dedication. Ensuring consistent, high-quality content for a global audience, free of charge, was demanding but ultimately rewarding. The group’s growth to thousands of participants and its recognition with awards and features on ESPN was a testament to the hard work and commitment invested. And the gratitude from the participants was the most rewarding part by far.

Writing and publishing my first book, “Recipes for Instant Weight Loss: Healthy Alternatives to Your Favorite Foods,” was another significant challenge. Having never written a book before, navigating the publishing world was daunting. Balancing this project with my ongoing commitments was tough, but seeing the book published on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, filled with recipes from my nutritional program clients (the best part), was a huge personal and professional achievement.

My journey has been marked by numerous struggles, but each challenge has shaped my path and strengthened my resolve to help others achieve their best selves.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
My work spans across multiple facets of health and wellness, integrating physical fitness, nutritional coaching, and most recently, acting. I specialize in helping individuals achieve optimal health and well-being through personalized fitness programs and nutritional guidance. My approach is holistic, focusing on the overall wellness of my clients rather than just physical appearance.

I am known for my transformative work on the TV shows “Happy Healthy Stronger” and “The Prime Time.” These shows allowed me to reach a broad audience, showcasing the profound impact that dedicated self-care and healthy living can have on individuals’ lives. I take immense pride in the success of these shows, especially the “Happy Healthy Stronger Makeover,” which helped contestants achieve remarkable health goals, such as getting off medications, reaching a healthier weight, and feeling beautiful.

In addition to my television work, I have created courses called “The Academies,” which are designed to help people transform their lives through nutrition and fitness. These courses have allowed me to work with groups of people, making a significant impact on their health and well-being. During the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing today, these courses have kept me connected to my followers and enabled me to make a huge difference. The testimonies and gratitude from the participants are the gas in my tank—they inspire and motivate me, and I am incredibly proud of the impact these courses have had.

My most significant achievements include winning several awards for my shows, writing my first book filled with my beautiful client’s recipes, and creating and maintaining the free group In-Home Fitness with Linzi Martinez on Facebook. However, my most significant personal achievement is in the lives of all who have allowed me to guide them. Their results and the way they now feel make me most proud.

What sets me apart from others in my field is my genuine passion for making a difference in people’s lives. My journey from a single mother of three to a health and wellness coach and TV host has been driven by a deep-seated belief in the power of giving oneself. This commitment to helping others achieve their best selves is at the core of everything I do.

Additionally, my transition into acting has added a new dimension to my career. Hosting both of my shows sparked a love for film and television, leading me to pursue acting roles. I have had the privilege of playing the lead in a feature film and hosting infomercials for health and wellness products. This new venture allows me to experience life from different perspectives, embodying various characters and experiencing their journeys. This ability to step into different roles has become a newfound love, enriching my professional and personal life.

In summary, my work combines health and wellness coaching, TV hosting, and acting. I am most proud of the lives I have transformed through my shows and “The Academys” courses and the new horizons I am exploring in the acting world. My holistic approach, genuine passion for helping others, and continuous pursuit of new experiences set me apart in the industry.

Any big plans?
I have several exciting plans for the future. Firstly, I am working on having my own show on a major network. While I can’t share too many details just yet, this project is in the works, and I am incredibly excited about the possibilities it holds.

In addition to my television endeavors, I am transitioning to online nutrition and fitness coaching. This shift will allow me to train and guide individuals personally from all around the world, breaking geographical barriers and expanding my reach.

I will also continue pursuing my acting career in film and television. My goal is to earn a lead role in a major feature film. And for a bit of fun, a personal dream of mine is to star in a movie alongside Brad Pitt—just a little silly fun fact! LOL!

My plans are centered around expanding my impact and continuing to help people achieve their best selves, whether through television, online coaching, or acting. The future holds exciting opportunities, and I am eager to embrace them. I must add that I am deeply grateful for all who have and continue to support, guide, and help me along the way to being all that I desire to be!
