Daily Inspiration: Meet Gabriela Smookler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Smookler

Gabriela , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I recently launched my jewelry business officially, but it’s been years in the making. I’ve always had a passion for unique jewelry pieces and collected them from every place I visited. One of my most cherished pieces is a pearl necklace with a map of Israel, a country I lived in for nine years and hold close to my heart. During the recent conflict, many people expressed interest in this necklace.

Years ago, when I was 18 and living in Tel Aviv, I tried my hand at crafting my own jewelry. Now, with more experience and a clear vision, I focus on the design aspect, creating meaningful pieces that tell a story and resonate with others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting this journey as an entrepreneur and creator felt long overdue. I discovered a newfound energy and felt amazing putting my efforts into something that is truly mine and something I deeply care about. Expressing myself through my designs is extremely important to me; it has been both liberating and fulfilling.

However, the road hasn’t been entirely smooth. Balancing a full-time job and pursuing a master’s degree in psychology means my time and resources are limited. Despite these challenges, the journey remains exciting and rewarding, keeping me motivated and passionate.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wear many hats right now in my life. A year ago, I was completely unemployed. Now, I’m enrolled part-time in a master’s program to become a psychotherapist, own a jewelry business, and work full-time as an AI E-Commerce Consultant. Beyond the beautiful designs, I’m most proud of bringing an idea to life. The ability to follow through on an idea is invaluable.

I’m known for being a strong advocate for mental health. Because of my passion for mental health, fashion, and creating, I donate a portion of the proceeds from Olive Branch Jewelry to a mental trauma center in Tel Aviv, Israel. This allows me to tie together all my passions in a meaningful way.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’ll be honest, I don’t love this question. I believe happiness comes from a feeling of being whole and at peace, which stems from acceptance. So, when asked what “makes me happy,” I would say that being fully present, without judgment on myself and others, allows me to experience joy. Additionally, feeling confident and unapologetically myself, and being able to share and express that authenticity confidently while feeling accepted for it, is an unparalleled feeling.
