Today we’d like to introduce you to Samah Abukhodeir.
Hi Samah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Samah Abukhodeir, but please feel free to call me “Sam.” My youth was filled with strong family values and work ethic, watching my parents work relentlessly across multiple jobs to support my siblings and me. Having come from not only an immigrant family, but one part of a minority, we often encountered limited opportunities and resources. This upbringing not only taught me the value of hard work but also the critical importance of giving back to the community.
While initially aspiring to follow in my father’s footsteps into medicine, my path led me elsewhere. I embraced the field of law and was admitted to the Florida bar in 2013, which marked the beginning of my legal career.
By 2017, I ventured to establish my own practice, founding The Florida Probate & Family Law Firm. As the owner and managing partner, I now lead a dedicated team of over 25 professionals across our main office in Coral Gables and several other locations in Central and South Florida.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While our journey has been incredibly rewarding, it has certainly not been without its challenges. One of the primary struggles has been the long nights of work required to ensure that every client receives the best possible service. Our commitment to excellence means that we often go above and beyond, dedicating countless hours to address every detail and provide the support our clients need.
Another significant challenge is maintaining professionalism while building genuine, compassionate relationships with our clients. Many of them come to us during some of the hardest times in their lives, and it is crucial to balance empathy with the professionalism necessary to guide them through their situations effectively. This involves not only being a source of legal expertise but also offering emotional support and reassurance, which can be emotionally taxing but ultimately very fulfilling.
Despite these challenges, we find great purpose and satisfaction in our work. Each obstacle has taught us valuable lessons and strengthened our resolve to serve our clients with unwavering dedication and care.
We’ve been impressed with The Florida Probate & Family Law Firm, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At The Florida Probate & Family Law Firm, we focus on serving the diverse cultural communities across Florida, particularly in Miami’s Caribbean, Latin American, Arab, and Muslim populations. Our firm is recognized for its expertise in Collaborative Family Law, which promotes a cooperative and respectful approach to divorce proceedings, setting us apart from traditional practices.
Additionally, I teach as an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University and actively participate on committees like the Florida Probate Rules Committee and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. These roles support my commitment to fostering inclusivity within the legal field. Our firm’s team-first environment ensures we provide exceptional service and support to our clients in their most challenging times.
I am particularly proud of our empathetic engagement with clients and our continuous efforts to expand our services to enhance community impact.
