Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald Nova Sound.
Hi Gerald, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started with music. My family, deeply rooted in Jamaican culture and music, deserves credit for igniting my creative spark. Discovering my passion for music and entrepreneurship early on, I embarked on a journey of creation. Following my university education in audio, technology, business, and finance, I delved into selling stage and studio products, music compilations, and other digital offerings. As we mark our 10th anniversary in March 2024, I reflect on the remarkable journey thus far.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path to success is seldom smooth. An “overnight success: simply means you slept on that person. Early on in my journey as a musician and entrepreneur, financial challenges loomed large. Yet, overcoming these hurdles became the impetus behind my drive to educate others on financial literacy and technology. It also fueled my motivation to pen my debut book, “I/O: Investing in Opportunity NFF.I,” slated for release this summer. One vivid memory stands out: a night spent on a mattress laid bare on my apartment floor, overwhelmed by credit card debt and the looming threat of an impending hurricane. In that moment, I realized the dire need for change. Reflecting on it now, that experience undeniably forged my character.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Nova Sound/ Nova Financial Technology?
A significant aspect of our work involves conducting speaking engagements, offering diverse programs, and managing our internship program, all aimed at equipping young professionals who are graduating from college with robust financial and career plans. Among our notable achievements, I have collaborated with 13 Grammy Award-winning artists as an event producer and audio operator. Additionally, Nova Sound has curated and released 10 musical compilations, garnered half a billion views collectively on platforms like Giphy and YouTube, established a store featuring 500 stage and studio products, and even developed our own private label of such products. However, what truly makes us proud is our ability to create unforgettable events and deliver immersive audio experiences.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
xI’m always tuned in to insights from fellow business owners, entrepreneurs, sales professionals, and financial experts. Given the ever-evolving nature of the world, staying abreast of current events and understanding their potential impact on your career or business is essential for success. In addition to my own book, I highly recommend “Outwitting the Devil” by Napoleon Hill. It completely shifted my perspective and introduced me to a fresh way of thinking.
