Check Out Anais Dominguez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anais Dominguez

Hi Anais, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Miami. When I was younger I thought I wanted to be a doctor; but I think that’s a dream that other people wanted for me. I loved learning how people think, their patterns, motivations etc, and I loved helping people. See where the doctor thing can come in.

Fast forward; I graduated, I took the MCAT, and I was clinically depressed. One thing that kept me going was making content. I started blogging in 2015 by writing articles for @cfashionista and posting fashion and makeup advice on Instagram. My first blog was The Fashionista Says.

Over the years I adapted my content to evolve with me: wellness, mental health, Cafecito, running, being Cuban and that lead me to connecting to different people. I always loved content creating and I just kept doing it. I started reaching out to my network and brands and offered to make content, edit videos, basically anything I could do in social media. I kept adding to my portfolio and eventually became an @aerie ambassador and that’s when I really started to take creating content seriously. After 4 years of freelancing and contracts I landed a job with Chifles. I’m their Marketing Manager and incredibly grateful for all my hard work. The journey has never been easy or linear but I’m so grateful of all the hard work I’ve put in and the opportunities I’ve earned.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
NOT AT ALL!! I struggled so much over the years between losing freelance jobs, which affected my income. I ultimately had to move back to Miami because I didn’t have any money. I’ve also struggled with imposter syndrome and thinking I wasn’t good enough to be a content creator, which affected the ebbs and flow of producing consistent work.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in self-care and wellness content. I love teaching other about the wellness routines I implement into my daily life and how they can implement it in a way that works for them. I have a certificate in health and wellness coaching so I use a lot of that in my content!

I’m most proud of my job at Chifles. I’ve worked so hard to be recognized as someone who is capable of running of social media accounts and it feels like all the hard work prior really paid off.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
During the COVID-19 crisis I really learned how to slow down. I remember being the busiest I was ever about to be, I was working 3 jobs and was planning on running around the city all day everyday, but I was forced to stop and just take a deep breath, and relax. I’m very grateful for that time.
