Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jen Wyatt.
Hi Jen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The long and winding road… my story has shifted and changed since the last time I was featured here. My journey began when chronic health issues were plaguing my life, and no conventional doctor could help me. My intuition and resolve led me to find a naturopathic and functional medicine doctor who helped me take control of my health and start feeling alive again!
That feeling of being healthy and in my body set me on a trajectory of wanting to care for myself… and that care included embarking on my yoga teacher training. I didn’t know it then, but that yoga teacher training at Back Bay Yoga in Boston would forever alter the course of my life on many levels. It was the start of my “spiritual awakening,” for lack of a better term… and opened up worlds of possibility for perceiving the world around me and finding new paths to my physical and emotional healing.
After working as a yoga instructor part-time for a while, I decided to leave Boston and travel to Florida, intent on becoming a full-time yoga instructor there — which I achieved! But it felt like there was still “more” I was here to offer.
After attending a couple of women’s circles in 2017, I felt a pull to learn more about the moon, manifestation, magick, the subtle body, and all things mystical. That put me on a course that led me to read countless books and study with various teachers (including my main teacher, Danielle Dulsky). I ultimately found that leading women’s circles and rituals and retreats of transformation is where my heart is.
In 2024, I’m now focused on bringing deep inner work and personal transformation to people via nature, the sacred, earth-based spirituality, ceremony, ritual, and deep-dive retreats.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all, and I think if any entrepreneur tells you that it’s been smooth, they are not being honest! My struggles have included learning how to market and sell my events, my financial struggles, and the battles with my own inner saboteurs.
First is marketing- understanding what people want and how to provide it to them. I’ve created things and had no one show up, and those times are tough! However, I feel grateful for all the times that I continued to persist despite what could be perceived as a failure. I have a deep belief in what I’m offering and that I can make a difference in the world, which has kept me going.
Financial struggles are real as an entrepreneur, and I have had support come in many forms from family and friends along the way. I’ve had many realizations along the way that what I was doing wasn’t going to be able to sustain me financially (for example, only teaching yoga in studios), and I had to pivot and change course.
The inner saboteurs are the struggles that will persist forevermore, I know! This is because I am certain that as you continue to grow, you will always have to contend with the parts of you that want to keep you from expanding beyond your comfort zone.
I continue to engage in extensive inner work to shift the parts of me that want to keep me small or sabotage my success, and it’s made a huge difference in my ability to persevere despite challenges and setbacks.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I want everyone to know that Wander Free Wellness is a space where people can learn to be more of who they truly are. Through workshops of profound inner work, women’s circles, sacred rituals and ceremonies, and immersive retreats, we dive into the psyche and soul to become acquainted with the truth of who we are.
I specialize in helping people really get to know themselves on a deep level — deeper than they knew they could go. This means we do work to shed layers of conditioning, programming, or outdated beliefs that are no longer serving the path we walk. It means we do the work of meeting the parts of us that feel messy — the grief, the shadows, the shame, the rage.
We shed our skin, over and over again, in order to meet the truth of our souls, our desires, and our authentic aspirations for our lives. We also have a lot of fun as we reconnect to our creativity, our imagination, our sensuality, our playfulness, and the full spectrum of our being!
I help you remember who you are and what you came here to do. And I’m here to encourage you to live your life fully expressed and in alignment with who YOU are, not what others expect of you.
Can you talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happiness is such an interesting topic. I believe it’s an emotion that comes and goes like any other and that we will never be in a perpetual state of “happiness.” But a general contentment and trust in life’s flow — that is what I believe is possible.
In general, I feel the happiest when I am feeling fully expressed and when I am allowing energy to move through me how it wants to. This might be through full presence in nature, through dance or moving my body intuitively, through writing prose or a poem, through making art, through laughing with friends, through wandering the world, or through exploring something new.
I’ve found that blocked expression and blocked energy flow are what block my happiness. The answer is to move it and express it all in some way.
