Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Shore
Hi Jake, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised a Chicago native. Son to two hard working blue collar parents, I was blessed to have both two people who equally influenced me musically and creatively. I was supported and celebrated to be myself from an early age. My educational experience in the Chicago Public school system really shaped my love for music, culture, and diversity. It wasn’t until college- I picked up DJing. Always knowing I had a love for music and entertainment running through my veins, DJing just clicked. I graduated with my degree in elementary education and became a teacher out of college while moonlighting as a DJ. 8 years later I gained notoriety for sharing my love of house music with my students on tiktok, which led to my overall success as a touring artist. Since then I’ve released a slew of fan favorite records, including “Hectic”, “Softly”, and “Freak 2 the Core”. “Hectic” especially caught the attention of renowned DJs including Fisher, Acraze, Loud Luxury, Biscits, and Diplo.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely struggles along the way. About three years ago, I came to the realization that I had a problem with alcohol. I chose to give it up completely. Even thought the journey has been mostly positive, there still has been dark times and set backs. I know now more than ever that I am the absolute best version of myself sober from alcohol. I also know that there will always be challenges and battles in the future. I am stronger now in the process than ever before.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I produce, compose, remix and DJ house music under the umbrella term EDM. I specialize in 90’s house music. I also travel the country DJing and performing at live shows. In addition to being an artist- I have also grown into a creator on social media and building a fan base through my engaging videos about my music and life. I’m definitely proud of the fact my music and brand has continued to flourish and grow just by being myself. I think what sets me apart from others is that my authenticity and story is felt by so many who have a dream of doing something bigger than they ever imagined. I’d like to think my story is inspiring other people to go chase their dreams.
What were you like growing up?
Center of attention! Haha I was very talkative, extremely social, outgoing, and driven. I loved playing sports and going out with friends. I cared about school and strived to be everyones friend.
