Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Maitland.
Jamie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like every beginning, my story started with an idea. The idea grew into a desire, and that desire turned into action. The first business concept I brought to life was Fort Lauderdale’s largest indoor cycling studio, which I co-founded back in 2015. Very long story short, I outgrew that phase in my life and, in 2019, decided to pivot into a smaller, more boutique-style fitness studio, THE OFFICE 954.
We only host 12 spots; the environment is that of a nightclub, and our classes vary from barre, boxing, spin, strength classes, pilates, and specific targeted areas such as ass advanced and muffin top +arm sculpt. Since opening the OFFICE, I have also incorporated nutrition into my wheelhouse and become a certified holistic nutritionist.
THE OFFICE HEALTH is not your average health & wellness company; the purpose is to cultivate conscious consumers and offer the highest quality organic food products, supplements, and holistic nutrition. I got where I am today by falling in love with the process. As cliche as this will sound, I truly live the lifestyle I preach and genuinely love what I do–which doesn’t feel like work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In general, I would say yes, it was smooth sailing. The first studio I opened had a rough patch at the end, but I honestly look at it as a blessing and an experience that taught me valuable lessons. THE OFFICE had a few bumps along the way in regard to getting open.
Dealing with the city is not an easy undertaking, not to mention all the capital you need to start a business. However, I am here to remind you that everything is possible, and if you want something bad enough, you’ll figure out a way to make it happen.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
To my core, I am an entrepreneur, but I am also a certified holistic nutritionist and a prominent figure in the fitness industry. I have a profound commitment to promoting health and wellness and have garnered recognition as a trusted authority within my field.
Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, my passion for fitness and nutrition stems from my personal journey and desire to help others achieve optimal well-being. My dedication to continuous learning led me to acquire certifications as a Holistic Nutritionist, Advanced Gut Health specialist, and Holistic Health Coach through IIN Nutrition School.
My career in the fitness industry took off in 2015 when I co-founded Fort Lauderdale’s first and largest indoor cycling studio. As an elite instructor, I quickly gained popularity for my unique coaching style and attention to detail. My ability to curate captivating playlists and tailor workouts to individual needs distinguished me as a sought-after fitness professional.
In 2019, I embarked on a new venture, establishing “The Office,” a boutique fitness studio that stands out for its diverse range of workouts. From boxing and barre to sculpt classes and yoga, The Office offers a comprehensive fitness experience under one roof.
With an intimate class size limited to 12 participants, I ensure a personalized approach to training. The studio’s immersive nightclub ambiance, enhanced by cutting-edge lighting and sound systems, creates a vibrant atmosphere that motivates and inspires.
Driven by my evolving interests, I expanded my focus to encompass holistic nutrition and overall wellness. This led me to create an immersive wellness program called THE 21 DAY RESET and in 2021, I launched “The Office Health”.
A health and wellness company that offers top-quality nutritional products, supplements, organic food, and exclusive retreat experiences. My mission and purpose is to provide personalized solutions and experiences that go beyond mere information, empowering individuals to cultivate a harmonious and balanced lifestyle.
Recognizing the profound impact of health and wellness beyond fitness and food, I aim to influence culture and effect sustainable change. By redefining the norms and questioning societal practices, I plan to create environments that support optimal well-being. Through motivation and inspiration, I seek to transform the culture of health and wellness, ultimately contributing to a healthier and happier world.
Motivating and inspiring people to be the very best version of themselves is what I do best. I am known for my unique style of coaching and particular way of connecting with people. I am most proud of my ability to put almost every idea I have into action. It’s one thing to have a thought or idea. It’s a whole other thing to actually bring it to life.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to connect with people on a level that moves them, among a few other things… but I would say this is what makes me the most different. People remember me, even if it’s a silly comment I said in class or something I said on The 21 Dy Reset. #drinkyourfuckingwater. They remember The Unicorn.
Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
DON’T BE. SHY. Naturally, we are creatures of community, and the more you get out there to meet people, the better. You never know who will be sitting next to you at a bar or outing, but you have to put yourself out there.
Opportunity is everywhere. Maintain a positive mental attitude, don’t be attached to any outcome, always be yourself, and believe that you are quite capable of anything. “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
Personally, I wasn’t on a mission to “find” a mentor, I just happened to see certain quotes I liked on social media, or found videos on YouTube that resonated with me and went down the rabbit hole from there. Some of my greatest mentors have been Jim Rohn, Bob Proctor, Dr. Steven Gundry, and Napoleon Hill.
