Exploring Life & Business with Renee Grant of Allure Beauty Supply & Suites

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Grant.

Renee Grant

Renee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am so proud of my business because I started from humble beginnings. I did this all on my own while still working my full-time job as a high school teacher, being a single mom, and taking care of my two children. I started out in a 6X12 trailer that I turned into a Mobile Boutique; selling $5 accessories at vendor events around my community.

After about a year, I realized I had bigger dreams of owning a brick-and-mortar store, expanding my business from just accessories and makeup to a full retail beauty supply store. I strive to set an example of a well-run business that serves our customers as well as the community at large. My customers are my first priority. It is my aspiration to become their one-stop shop beauty retail provider.

My products and merchandise are aimed at helping people in our community to grow together in ever-changing upcoming beauty trends. I aim to ensure that every customer has a pleasurable, unique shopping experience and leaves with the best beauty products to meet their needs. Receiving this grant will definitely help to accelerate and achieve my business goals of becoming a preferred beauty retailer and eventually opening multiple stores in the future.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to opening my beauty supply store was not easy. It was very challenging starting out as a small store with many other big-name beauty supply stores/chains in my area. However, what sets me apart is the fact that I am 100% black-owned and also 100% woman-owned. My customers and clients that appreciate that, love to support me because of those reasons. They know they will also have a wonderful shopping experience.

We’ve been impressed with Allure Beauty Supply & Suites, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
By providing exceptional customer service combined with competitive pricing and a growing product mix, my goal is to create a one-stop shopping destination where all beauty supply needs will be met. I take pride in being 100% black-owned and women-owned.

I aim to provide exceptional quality hair extensions, wigs, and products at competitive prices to consumers. I strive to set an example of a well-run business that serves our customers as well as the community at large. My customers are my first priority. It is my aspiration to become their one-stop shop beauty retail provider.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am a reality TV junkie, and I LOVE watching real estate shows on HGTV. I also love designing and being creative. I love to help people start their small businesses. I’m also a great singer and a good dancer (sort of) LOL.
