Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rachna Buxani-Mirpuri.
Hi Dr. Mirpuri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Helping people is what brings me purpose and meaning. I started as a one-person mental health practice in 2017 in Miami, FL. It was only me and I did it all from seeing clients to billing to managing scheduling. In about three years, I hired my first therapist and then the next….. and the rest is history.
I am originally from Dubai which is where my journey began. I headed 21 schools as a counseling coordinator of Gems group – a group that owned and managed 21 schools around the UAE. I then moved to the Cayman Islands where I worked with the Government and finally moved to Miami with my family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the biggest struggle has always been the stigma attached to mental health and navigating that. I have always believed that stigma comes from a place of ignorance, so along the way, I have tried to educate people with regard to mental health issues so as to eradicate the stigma attached.
Another struggle has been navigating the very challenging world of insurance. It is disheartening how many people in spite of having insurance cannot afford mental health help.

Buxani Counseling Care is a mental health practice in the charming city of Miami Florida. We provide mental health therapy to adults and teens. I think what sets us apart is that every member of the Buxani Care family is passionate about wanting to make a difference. We go above and beyond to ensure all our clients are taken care of.
There is no email or phone call that goes unanswered. Even if we cannot assist someone due to our heavy waitlists, we ensure we provide callers with resources to support their mental health journey.

Helping. I think when you are blessed with a skill and knowledge that can benefit humanity, it becomes your Karma to help those in need.
