Today, we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Denooyer.
Hi Stephanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Stephanie Denooyer. Alongside Maria Bachiller, we are the proud owners of Amavi Miami, an event company that caters to the LGBTQ + market.
For the past five years, our goal has been to host events and use the profits to give back and help our community. We chose the name Amavi because it means love in Italian. We believe that if each of us shares a little bit of love, this world would be a better place.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a struggle, being that we are in a state where there is still a lot of hate towards the LGBTQ community. It makes it a challenge at times to get people to come out to the events, especially the lesbian community, as there is no real set space like bars or nightclubs that cater to the lesbian market in Miami.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are known for hosting events with a purpose. We have always strived to help people, especially those who need help with anything related to mental health.
Our services include network events to connect all different types of businesses together. Our goal is to promote businesses that welcome the LGBTQ+ community.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
During Covid, we learned about the importance of our events and the privilege we have to get people together.
