Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Carbajal.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
This a thank you to my parents, specifically my father, who took a chance as a young man and left everything behind in search of the American Dream. Through art and hard work, established himself and his company as the premier Specialty finish company in South Florida.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. The company fell into bankruptcy during the 2008 economic collapse. From there it was baby steps and persistence to build back up. My father struggled to overcome the language barrier having learned very little English in Argentina, but his work slowly began to speak for itself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My father studied Art in Argentina, and he applied what he learned to specialty finishes. While we work in construction, AM Fine Arts specializes in the art of specialty finishes. Venetian Plaster, Microcement, Limewash, Art restoration (we restored Elastika, the famous structure by famed Architect Zaha Hadid in the Moore Building).
My family is proud of our work, but we’re also proud of our ethics. We strive to succeed without undermining others and staying humble. We are a small family-run company with the ability to tackle massive creative specialty finish jobs, which is extremely rare in our field.
How do you think about luck?
Everything good requires good fortune. Everyone at some point needs help. We’re lucky enough to rely on our family and our extended family. For example, the Hoafat family at EcoWall Coatings has played a key role in our success over the last couple of years, and we are very grateful.
