Community Highlights: Meet April Graham

Today, we’d like to introduce you to April Graham.

April Graham

Hi April, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

Given the odds stacked against me, my colleagues inquired about the likelihood of my success.
I was a teen mom and a first-generation college student who endured poverty and abuse as a child and young adult. I had minimal resources and little guidance to help me succeed. Through those struggles, I discovered I was gifted at overcoming obstacles and bouncing back after setbacks. This is why I made it a mission to coach ladies to lead and soar through adversity! Through my hardships, I vowed to help women and teen girls go from Surviving to Thriving.
I worked for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for over twenty years. I began as a teacher assistant, became a teacher, and then advanced to the position of Assistant Principal. I was eligible to become a principal, but I resigned to establish America’s Little Leaders academies instead.
I founded America’s Leading Ladies Academy, a 501(c)(3) organization, and subsequently launched the Levolution Coaching program. In my coaching program, I am most proud of the many women whom I empower to push through to their breakthroughs! I hold four college degrees, own and operate a successful childcare business, am a John Maxwell Certified Coach, and am a best-selling author.
Currently, I am a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Leadership and have received numerous awards and distinctions in education.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been anything but smooth. Throughout my youth and young adulthood, my mother suffered as a single parent through a multitude of personal struggles. These challenges impacted me and inflicted suffering that I prefer not to discuss. To further complicate matters, I was subjected to marital infidelity and abuse.

We’ve been impressed with America’s Little Leaders Academy/Levolution Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

The Levolution Coaching program distinguishes itself from other organizations that empower women through our personalized blueprint for getting unstuck.
Notable characteristics of the Levolution Program:
1. **Comprehensive Approach**: We take a holistic approach to helping women and teens achieve breakthroughs. This approach considers the individual as a complete entity, taking into account their finances, mental, physical, and spiritual components.
2. **Tailored Coaching**: Each participant gets one-on-one coaching sessions designed to meet their unique needs and goals.
3. **Group Support**: Women are assigned to “purpose partners,” a group of women with similar goals who actively work on their individual growth.
* The Levolution helps women find their authentic selves, breaking free from ideas that hold them back*
I’m most proud of how my program saves women and teenage girls from stagnation and brings out their full potential. Many women who have worked with our program continue to earn college degrees, buy homes, start businesses, become better parents, and excel in school.
People who read your blog should know that while LEVELING UP gets you there, EVOLVING is what keeps you on the next level! And that’s what I’m good at…

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?

My main takeaway from the COVID-19 disaster was knowing “my people.”  My community had an important role in both my personal and professional life.
COVID either caused unity or exposed divisions in relationships. Defining your relationships and identifying your village was inevitable. Our relationships highlighted the significance of unity and compassion in assisting one another during challenging times. Some of us passed the lesson of togetherness with flying colors. Others failed miserably, maintaining the pattern of struggling to navigate problems alone. During COVID, the bulk of my family was sick at the same time.  I relied on my faith, but I also relied on my family, my friends, and my staff. I NEEDED MY VILLAGE!!!! And they showed up. For this, I am forever grateful to my team.
