Meet Gwen Gottlieb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gwen Gottlieb.

Gwen Gottlieb

Hi Gwen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hello! In 2017, I started my social media account as a creative outlet. I was working in marketing for doctors and was feeling a little bored. When a friend suggested I try Instagram, I thought, why not? Initially, my account was focused on food and was named Eats on the Avenue. However, I soon got tired of just posting about food and wanted to expand my content.

Thus, my account evolved into Gwen Eats Well, and later into Gwen Lives Well, which is a lifestyle account. I wanted to cover topics that resonate with me, especially those related to midlife and beyond. In 2020, due to the pandemic, I was furloughed from my job. Like so many, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I couldn’t visit my newborn grandson, and I had no work to focus on, so I buried myself in social media.

I focused all my energy on building my brand – that of a midlife blogger (I also have a website) showcasing everything from grandma life (Gigi) to fashion, travel, wellness, and food. I connected with like-minded women, and before I knew it, I was working with brands. Women my age have expendable income, and brands are finally realizing that. It’s a terrific time to be a ‘seasoned’ content creator.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No real struggles. A few times it’s been a struggle to get paid, lol, but for the most part, I’ve been lucky.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love making my audience smile, think, and laugh. I enjoy entertaining my audience with fun posts as well as sharing new product finds, and brands that resonate with me. I don’t just feature anyone or any brand on my page. I must have used the brand myself or tried and liked their products.

My audience relies on me for good advice, and I don’t ever want to disappoint them. With that being said, I think my audience recognizes my authenticity (at least that’s what I’m told all the time). I think my underlying sense of playfulness and zest for life comes out in my posts as well (again that’s what I’m told).

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Well, since I just retired from my full-time marketing job, and am now focusing solely on building my social media presence, you can bet I would appreciate any support whatsoever, lol! I decided it was now or never to make a change. I’m no spring chicken, and while I’m all about ageless style and ageless living, the clock is still ticking.

I would appreciate hearing from brands that understand the value of aligning themselves with someone who gets her audience, who has a real connection with them, as well as a pulse on what’s relevant to her community. I can be reached at gwen@gwenliveswell.com.

I also have a blog, Gwen Lives Well, which I’ll be working on updating this summer, and of course, if your readers are on Instagram I’d love support there.

I can also be found at Gwen Lives Well on TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest. I haven’t had time for these platforms in the past but now that I can focus on my social media, I’m hoping to grow in those areas as well.

Another fun way to support me is if any of your readers use the platform, Like to Know It (a shopping app) they can follow me there. That’s where I link anything from clothing to favorite products to gift ideas that I love and that I think they may enjoy.

I’ve also got some interesting ideas brewing for where else I can take GLW, so stay tuned.

And remember, as long as you’re alive and kicking, it’s never too late to reinvent yourself, and try something new.
