Daily Inspiration: Meet Tongue Tied

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tongue Tied.

Tongue Tied

Hello Tongue Tied, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started all the way back in 2017 when we were in high school. We did a few shows to get our name out and released our debut EP, First Words, on iTunes and Spotify a few months later. After that, we put out our first album in early 2020, right before going on a hiatus during the pandemic.

We’ve gone through a few bassists over the years, but this past July, we found our current bassist, Marco, and they’ve been such a great fit. The four of us are currently working on our second album. It’ll be out in the next couple of months. We’re super proud of it and excited to show it to everyone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve gone through a hiatus and a few lineup changes over the years.

Going into 2020, we thought we were over as a band, but once the lockdown ended, we found that we wanted to make music together again, so we quickly got to writing new songs, some of which will be on the new album.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We make music that we’re super proud of. We don’t stick to one specific genre. We all like very different kinds of music, so we just find ways to mix them together in a way that represents us well.

Our love of experimenting with wildly different genres sets us apart, things like funk, emo, and hard rock.

Who else deserves credit for your story?
Our friends and family have been the biggest support to us throughout the years, helping us grow as a band. Special shout out to the bar Tough Times in Broward for having us play there a lot.

We’d also like to thank some of the other bands in the local Miami scene, like Feral Ember, for helping us get shows and for showing us support. Some of us met through School of Rock, so we have them to thank for that as well.
