Rossana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Proud Puerto Rican hairstylist with roots in both Puerto Rico and Miami, immersed in the industry since 2000. A salon baby from the start, thanks to my mom’s influence. My passion for hair began early, drawn to creating modern twists on retro looks while prioritizing health and beauty.
I specialize in effortless everyday styles and educating myself to stay on top of trends. Now, alongside my partner Kristina Fuentes, we’ve opened our cozy and private studio, Idilik, offering personalized services for all hair types and individuals.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
What an inspiring journey! Despite the ups and downs, I persevered through countless challenges with unwavering determination. Being a single mom while building a successful career is undoubtedly a remarkable feat, and raising my son to be as successful as I am is a testament to my strength and resilience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a versatile hairstylist, I cover a wide spectrum of services, including hair color, treatments, and more, but my true expertise lies in haircutting. Specializing in creative cuts and employing a mix of cutting techniques with scissors and razors sets me apart.
My fearlessness in handling any hair texture or style distinguishes me in the industry, and rightfully so. I embrace my unique skill set and continue to shine with pride!
What were you like growing up?
It’s incredible how music, especially punk rock, and your passion for skating helped shape the person that I am today. Embracing my uniqueness and surrounding myself with those who dared to be different contributed to my growth.
Growing up on an island added another layer to my identity, enriching my experiences and influencing my perspective. It’s inspiring to see how I transformed from a shy, introverted child into the confident individual that I am now. I keep embracing my authenticity and staying true to myself.
