Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Holt.
Caitlin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Caitlin Holt, and I am the founder of Hitch Agency, and VIP Miami with my amazing business partner Valentina Pope. Before I started working in marketing, I was actually a professional ballerina. I had a foot injury early on in my career and decided that I wanted to pursue other things.
I was inspired by my dad to get into marketing. He worked as the marketing director for some of the top sporting goods companies around the world for most of his career. He worked in more traditional channels of marketing such as print advertising, but I decided that I wanted to pursue digital marketing. After earning my degree in Creative Technology and Advertising from the Savannah College of Art and Design, I started working in the industry.
After I graduated, I went on to work for a few large marketing agencies in Atlanta to gain experience but eventually realized that I am most passionate about helping mid-sized companies grow in their marketing strategies. This inspired me to create my own marketing agency – Hitch. Shortly after, I moved to Miami, and have been working with clients here ever since. Some things that I love doing when I have free time are traveling, flying small aircraft, and attending automotive events.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running my own agency hasn’t been easy by any means. When I first started, I had to wear all of the hats! I was in charge of finances, client communication, contracts, and more. That was a very stressful time. I have had to learn how to manage my time and communicate effectively with clients as a business owner.
Also, I have realized that it is essential to work on projects that you feel passionate about, or you will get burnt out! I am fortunate to have touched many different industries, with some of my favorites being automotive, art, dance, fashion, tech, and hospitality.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hitch Agency and VIP Miami?
My business, Hitch Agency, is a full-service marketing and creative agency. Our services include digital media buying, web design, photo and video work, and social media management! One thing that sets Hitch apart from other agencies is that we make the most of our clients’ time and budget. After working for two large agencies early in my career, I noticed that they only cared about how many clients they could sign on retainer, rather than providing quality work.
I realized that I didn’t want to take the same approach with my own clients, and wanted to make sure they were given results that they liked. No matter the size of your business, we put the same amount of dedication and quality into all of our work. I am very proud of the fact that I can give back to my community by helping other businesses to grow. It is a very rewarding feeling to help others!
My other business, VIP Miami is newer – but I am very excited about everything we have coming up this year. I founded this business with my amazing partner, Valentina Pope. VIP is all about creating unique in-person experiences for clients through experiential marketing, influencer marketing, and concierge services. I have been fortunate enough to travel and work in other cities with clients through VIP, and can’t wait to continue taking on more clients soon!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite memories from childhood was spending time at the beach over the summer with all of my family. Growing up in South Carolina, my grandparents would rent a beach house every year in July, and my parents would join all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins for a week of fun. Some of my best memories came from these weeks, and I am so grateful to have had that time with my family.
