Hi Julia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi Voyage MIA readers! I am so excited to be interviewed and share a little bit about myself and my company with you. In my life, I balance being a businesswoman, a mom of 2, and a greener planet advocate. My journey in the candle industry started when I got a severe allergy to conventional candles. I had to learn all the ugly truth about the junk that goes into candles. I was also heartbroken to see hundreds of used candles being tossed into the trash along with the vessels.
My first candle brand was born in 2019 in commitment to the highest standards of aesthetics and sustainability. Today we have a successful eco-friendly company with 2 directions. At Lova Candles®️ we are staging hundreds of unique and luxury candles for upscale events.
At Candle Pearls™️ we are helping florists and other decor specialists to switch over to pearled candles – saving them time and money that they waste on shopping and cleaning the candles. We light up the world while reducing the amount of toxic candles in landfills and pollution in our environment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As with many startups, my road was not always smooth. Like many women, I juggled being a mom of 2, a good wife, and a businesswoman and trying to excel at everything. I went through challenges wasting money on poor quality materials, paying for high travel expenses to serve the events in Miami (while living in Tampa), breastfeeding my infant daughter while at the events.
And of course, I’ve done multiple unpaid works in hopes of gaining traction on the market. As a result, I often overworked while still not being able to support my family at the beginning of my journey. I am sure many readers can relate!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking has worked for me very well. I try to participate in every event where I get a chance to mingle with like-minded individuals and potential clients. You can search organizations in your city that support certain industries – floral, wedding etc and join their networking events.
