Rising Stars: Meet Vera Tufar of Vertu Swim

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Vera Tufar.

VERA TUFAR

Hi Vera, thanks for sharing your story with us. Maybe you can tell our readers some of your back story.
I started my business, Vertu Swim, three years ago. I love swimwear – beautiful swimwear with stones and sparkles. I was looking for it through the internet and found only beach bunnies. And I understood there is no big competition in the market for beautiful luxury swimwear.

So, I was looking for a manufacturer and found a perfect girl with her swimwear manufacturing office in Ukraine, Kharkiv. And we decided to work together. So, I am keeping my manufacturer there, but she moved it to Kiev. I can say that to promote a new brand is hard. It takes too much energy, money, and creativity to do that. But I keep moving. I still believe I can make my brand as big as a beach bunny very soon.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it was not smooth at all, especially when the war in Ukraine started and my girl closed her manufacture in Kharkiv, I thought I lost everything… But she moved to Kiev and found people who were able to transfer all the stuff into Kiev.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
My business is Vertu Swim – a unique luxury party swimwear. This is an online store. We do not sell in boutiques yet, but we are planning. I have been trying to make my brand more noticeable for the past three years. We participate in different fashion shows and work with some influencers

Our bikinis are made in Ukraine and not China. We are using only Italian fabrics. Our designs are unique, and all are limited edition. So far, we have very satisfied customers. And I am very proud of it!

How do you think about luck?
The bad luck was when the war in Ukraine started. And we stopped production for almost a year. But then my girl moved to Kyiv, and we continued manufacturing.
