Meet Shani Avidar of My Little Dreamer

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shani Avidar.

Shani Avidar

Hi Shani, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Initially, I was passionate about my career in the financial industry. However, when my first child arrived in 2019, everything changed. Balancing work and family became more challenging, especially with the added stress of sleep deprivation.

Like many parents, my husband and I struggled with infant sleep and felt exhausted and unsure. Determined to find answers, I researched extensively and gained valuable tools to support my children’s sleep. When our third child arrived in 2022, I considered myself a sleep pro. This journey inspired me to dedicate my time to educating parents on teaching their children to become better sleepers. Sleep coaching is now my full-time calling.

My experience as a mom and specialized training in infant and toddler sleep has given me deep insights into child development and the keys to their thriving. I found the Baby Led Sleep Approach and it aligned with my parenting style. It has had a transformative impact on me, strengthening my connection with my children and boosting my confidence as a mom. I’ve also completed the Wholechild Company Breastfeeding Program to better support new and expecting moms.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Transitioning from a full-time career in finance to becoming an Infant and Toddler Sleep Coach has been a transformative journey with its fair share of challenges. While it hasn’t been easy, these hurdles have shaped my role as a business owner.

Surprisingly, being a business owner was never something I considered before. It wasn’t a passion of mine initially. However, as I dealt with my sleep challenges and did research, I felt a deep desire to help others with infant and toddler sleep. One major challenge was realizing that building and growing a business required a different skill set from finance. I had to learn about marketing, understanding client needs, and creating a brand presence. It was sometimes uncomfortable, but it helped me develop my entrepreneurial skills.

Balancing work and family life, especially with the added stress of sleep deprivation, is something many parents can relate to. Finding solutions for my own family motivated me to help others facing similar challenges.

The transition has brought rewarding aspects to my career. Working remotely and setting my schedule has been a game-changer. This flexibility helps me build my business and spend time with my children. Balancing work and family life has become easier, and prioritizing family while helping others is the greatest reward of this entrepreneurial journey.

In summary, transitioning from finance to being an entrepreneur in infant and toddler sleep coaching has ups and downs. The unexpected twists and turns have deepened my understanding of the field and fueled my passion for improving the lives of parents and their children through better sleep.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
As an Infant and Toddler Sleep Coach, I envision several trends and shifts in the industry over the next 5-10 years:

1. Increased Emphasis on Holistic Well-being: As awareness about holistic health and well-being grows, there will be a heightened emphasis on holistic approaches to infant and toddler sleep. Parents will seek comprehensive solutions that not only address sleep challenges but also consider the overall well-being of the child and the family as a whole.

2. Integration of Technology: The integration of technology in sleep coaching tools is likely to increase. Technology will play a more significant role in supporting parents on their sleep journey, from smart devices monitoring sleep patterns to apps providing personalized insights.

3. Focus on Individualized Solutions: The industry will shift towards more individualized sleep solutions. Recognizing the uniqueness of each child and family, sleep coaches will tailor their approaches, considering specific needs, parenting styles, and cultural influences.

4. Remote and Online Services: The demand for remote and online sleep coaching services will continue to rise. Busy parents, especially those working from home, will appreciate the flexibility of accessing expert guidance without needing in-person consultations.

5. Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Sleep coaches may increasingly collaborate with healthcare providers, including pediatricians and lactation consultants, to offer more comprehensive support. This collaboration can ensure a holistic approach to addressing sleep challenges in the context of overall child health.

6. Emphasis on Sleep Education: Sleep education will become fundamental to parenting classes and programs. Expectant parents and those with young children will seek proactive guidance on establishing healthy sleep habits, promoting a preventive rather than reactive approach.

7. Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity: Sleep coaches will become more attuned to cultural differences and diverse family structures. Recognizing the impact of cultural practices on sleep routines, coaches will offer inclusive guidance that respects and adapts to various cultural contexts.

8. Expansion of Support Networks: Support networks for parents, both online and offline, will expand. Communities, where parents can share experiences, seek advice, and receive support, will become integral to the sleep coaching landscape.

In navigating these shifts, adaptability, continuous learning, and a commitment to understanding the evolving needs of families will be crucial for Infant and Toddler Sleep Coaches.
