Hey there! I’m Giovanna, and I want to share a bit of my story with you. It all starts with my roots in Brazil, where the beach wasn’t just a place; it was a way of life. Fast forward through a decade of Miami living, and you’ve got me: beach lover, sun seeker, and, as fate would have it, entrepreneur.

When the world turned upside down in 2020, and I found myself without a job, it was this ingrained love for the beach that sparked a new beginning. The idea for Morena Beach, my tanning lotion brand, was born out of a conversation with my boyfriend during those uncertain times. He saw my passion for the beach and suggested I channel it into something tangible.

Morena Beach is the fruit of this dream, marrying my love for the beach with the rich, natural essence of Brazilian ingredients. And here’s where it gets really interesting: in the early days, strolling along the beach or the quaint island near my home, people would stop and ask what I was using to get such a stunning tan. Imagine that! I began spreading the word about Morena Beach through Instagram, TikTok, and yes, even by selling it directly on the beach sands. TikTok was never really my playground, but then, a before-and-after video showcasing our tanning lotion suddenly went viral, amassing over 3 million views and 26,000 shares, catapulting Morena Beach to stellar heights.

The response was so overwhelming that we sold out three times in our first year. It was a whirlwind of joy, and I knew I wanted to share this journey with someone special.

So, in 2022, I asked my mom to join me. She’s always been my rock and my guiding light. Her spirit, infused with her love for the beach and her knack for making everyone feel welcomed and loved, was exactly what Morena Beach needed. We shared this vision of creating a product that wasn’t just about getting the perfect tan but about capturing the essence of our Brazilian beach culture, where the sun kisses your skin, and the sea sets your soul free.

Together, we’ve been expanding Morena Beach, introducing new products like our body butter and body glow, and yes, selling out faster than we ever imagined.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Embarking on this journey with Morena Beach has been exhilarating, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. Like any adventure, there have been bumps along the road, teaching me resilience and the true value of perseverance.

One of the first hurdles was turning my vision into reality. I had a clear picture of what I wanted Morena Beach to represent – a blend of the vibrant beach culture of Brazil with the natural beauty ethos I so deeply cherished. However, finding the right partners to bring this vision to life, ones who could understand and respect the essence of Brazilian ingredients and the sustainable, natural approach I was adamant about, took time and patience.

Navigating the digital world was another learning curve. While the viral TikTok video was a breakthrough, consistently engaging with our community, understanding the ever-changing algorithms, and creating content that truly connects with our audience demanded a lot of trial and error. It was about finding our voice in a crowded space and making sure it was heard, seen, and felt.

Of course, there were operational challenges too, from managing inventory to meet the unexpected surges in demand to ensuring the quality and consistency of our products as we scaled. Each sold-out moment was a celebration but also a race against time to restock without compromising on the quality that our customers had come to love and expect from us.

And let’s not forget the personal challenges. Balancing the demands of a burgeoning business with personal life, especially in a family-run venture, required setting clear boundaries and finding time to recharge, reflect, and nurture the relationships that have been the backbone of Morena Beach.

Through it all, the support from my mom, the community we’ve built around Morena Beach, and the stories of how our products have touched lives have been my guiding lights. Each struggle was a lesson in disguise, pushing me to evolve, adapt, and grow, not just as a businesswoman but as an individual committed to spreading the joy and freedom of beach culture, one bottle at a time.

The COVID-19 crisis was a period of profound learning and reflection for me, both personally and as the founder of Morena Beach. One of the most significant lessons I learned was the importance of adaptability and resilience. The pandemic showed us all how quickly circumstances can change, and it underscored the need to be able to pivot and adapt to new realities swiftly.

Launching a new business when the world was grappling with unprecedented uncertainty taught me the importance of being adaptable and finding creative solutions to navigate through tough times.

The pandemic underscored the significance of digital engagement and the virtual community. With physical interactions limited, the digital world became our main stage for launching Morena Beach, connecting with our audience, and building our brand.

It highlighted the necessity of having a strong and authentic online presence, utilizing social media not just as a marketing tool, but as a platform to genuinely connect with people, share our story, and build a community around our brand values….Lastly, launching Morena Beach during the pandemic reinforced the value of passion and purpose in driving a business. The challenges of the pandemic made it clear that having a deep, personal connection to your business and its mission can be a powerful motivator, helping to navigate through tough times and connect more deeply with your audience.

In essence, starting Morena Beach amidst the COVID-19 crisis was a testament to the strength that comes from passion, resilience, and a community-focused approach, setting a strong foundation for the brand to grow and thrive even in the most uncertain times.
