Check Out Camille Campbell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Campbell.

Camille Campbell

Hi Camille, I am so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Camille, the Lead Designer and founder at @Nutrition.DesignLab. I’m from Jamaica, I love to travel, eat, and drink coffee and I’ve been design-obsessed for as long as I can remember. I studied to be a Graphic Designer at The University of Miami, then took a year off because I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life! I worked at Starbucks and Houston’s (now Hillstone!) in Coral Gables for that year, before finally landing in Architecture. I decided to go back to the University of Miami and pursue my Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design.

I loved every minute of those experiences but then after graduating I moved, got married, and became a stay-at-home mom! The complete opposite of my plan but still a beautiful place to be in. My little family then had an opportunity to move to the Middle East for my husband’s career, and we jumped at the opportunity to explore a new part of the world! Fast forward many years, with my daughter finally getting older and more independent, I was ready to re-enter the work world and this time decided to follow a new passion- the health sphere! I pursued my certification as a Nutrition Coach and decided I was going to help women of Caribbean descent navigate their weight loss journeys while still learning to incorporate their traditional cultural foods.

CamsMindsetMacros was born, and I felt SO legit when I registered with my company in South Florida!

Fast forward a few more years and I noticed that I kept getting approached by other Nutrition & Fitness coaches asking me who made my website, my branding, my course documents, and who was managing my social media visuals. The answer was simple… me. My background in design meant that it was easy for me to set up my website and backend systems, easy for me to build out course visuals, and easy for me to brand my business. Once I got a few requests to do the same for others – Nutrition Design Lab was born- the PERFECT culmination of all my passions (oh and my parents are pretty pleased to hear I’m using those degrees again!) My true passion lies in helping badass women entrepreneurs build their businesses by supporting them through design & systems that inevitably save them time and earn them more money.

I’ve been designing for a few years now and have loved meeting and supporting so many women from various walks of life.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve had so many challenges along the way, but I don’t think they are unique! I struggle with the typical moments of Imposter Syndrome and have had personal struggles pop up that forced me to focus and push forward with goals for my business.

It isn’t easy juggling being a mother, a wife, and running my own business, but I’m learning more and more each year that in the same way I set up systems to make business easier for my clients, I need to set up systems in my home and my life to make it easier for me to be a present wife and mother AND run my business successfully.

Running a business has taught me so much about taking action (I can have all these dreams but if I don’t take action on them… then nothing positive will come of them) and about setting boundaries- there WILL be moments where people will test your patience and abilities, and you WILL have to double down on your ethics and standards and chart your way forward.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Brand & Web Designer mostly focused on working with Female Fitness & Nutrition professionals. I bring a unique perspective to this field because I used to be a Nutrition Coach and a college athlete, so have always had my hand in the athletic/physical performance world, and have a specific understanding of what visuals these business owners need to grab their potential clients attention, the platforms they deliver their programs through, and the inner systems that make it easier to run their businesses.

There have always been women, especially mothers, who are looking for ways to build their businesses in sustainable ways that still allow them to be present in their family’s lives, while still bringing in significant income, and showing their children that they CAN do ANYTHING. I get to be a part of supporting that vision and growth and I feel so grateful and so proud that I get to be an integral part of that journey.

What sets my work apart from others is the fact that I’ve been on every side of the coin in this sphere. I’ve been a longtime client of Fitness & Nutrition programs, so know what needs to be delivered on that end. I’ve been a Nutrition Coach, so I know what needs to go into marketing a program and building a company and how programs are delivered. Combining that with my years of Design studies, interest & skills – the perfect combination of skills and passion, and I’m lucky I get to do it!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Traveling with my family makes me happy. Trying new recipes with my daughter and exploring new countries widens my horizons and shows me that the world is so much bigger than my experiences. I love trying new foods, watching true crime and cult documentaries, and thoroughly enjoying all the modern pop culture nonsense that the internet brings into our lives.

I love taking time to myself several days a week and strength training in the gym because it makes me feel strong and capable, and I love showing my daughter that our bodies are not just about our weight – it’s about FEELING good, being able to support the lifestyle we want, and about taking good care of the vessel that you have- NOT about being obsessed with a number on the scale.
