Life & Work with Marlon Foster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlon Foster.

Marlon Foster

Hi Marlon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have been a musician for roughly 20-old years and also a DJ for at least half of that. I also have never been really afraid to try out any ideas that I think of, which can be a good thing and sometimes bad.

I think the reason I have been able to continue on this journey for as long as I have, is my intentions have always been from a place of connecting with people and having people connect at my events. I feel like this comes through with my work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like everyone, there have been some great highs and some dark lows. Luckily, I have a great support system with friends and family that I can go to. The biggest struggle I have encountered is imposter syndrome, feeling like my work won’t resonate with people or it’s just not good enough.

Even though I have countless evidence that my work does, I struggle with this sometimes. I have learned to embrace the uncomfortable moments and remind myself that it’s all part of the journey and the world won’t end if you have a bad gig.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So at this stage of my life, I have gone into Sound Therapy, and I have been certified in this. I have created a laser sound bath that uses sound bath instruments, synthesizers, and lasers.

How it works is resonance from the singing bowls and synths, go into a specially made visual synth, which creates sacred geometry patterns, so essentially you are hearing and seeing everything in real time and gets clients into a deeper state of mediation. The feedback from my Harmonograph Lasers events has been incredible and people have left there with a deeper understanding of themselves and also worked out any inner traumas, this makes me extremely happy/proud that my art has this effect on people.

I guess what sets me apart is I have created a unique experience for people that no one else can replicate.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory is me and grandma listening to records. Her record collection is amazing, and she always shows me something new and as I get older, I get the chance to show her some new records and I am very grateful for this.
