Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Castillo.
Hi Mary, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
With a background in television and advertising production in Venezuela, and a previous ownership of a flower shop, I’ve always been passionate about the beauty of nature and flowers. After immigrating to the US for the second time in 2015, I worked in various professions, but it wasn’t until the pandemic hit that I rediscovered my true passion.
I decided to dedicate myself to providing the best memories possible through the artful design of flowers. I am thrilled to be bringing my unique perspective and skills to the US floral industry, where I can combine my love for nature and my background in production to create truly stunning and memorable designs.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been challenging but has brought so much satisfaction, that in the end, it feels really good to be on the road. How we have developed our business, given its structure, and tailored all the details, for our customers to be satisfied and happy with our execution, always has been our main goal.
From keeping the standards of an excellent product to a flawless execution of pieces, it has been physically demanding but when you see the decoration and the design that we created for a wedding or any celebratory event, it always brings tears to my eyes. So, I feel this road we chose is the best one of all the others in my life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a floral designer, and I recreate the aesthetic and atmosphere for a celebratory event, based on the client’s inspiration. We mainly design wedding florals, from a Bridal Bouquet to the centerpieces, giving our clients, mainly brides-to-be, the elements to have a perfect photo for one of the most important days of their life.
I’m proud of my creations, every one of them is different from the others as we are as individuals. Flowers always can give me the best of them to show their beauty and aroma to our clients. I’m proud of how I built the relationship with our clients and how they express themselves through reviews and affection for our work.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting.
My main advice is patience, communication, and consistency. When I see my past, I only can understand that this business came at the right moment in my life.
For many reasons I wasn’t as patient as I am today, we have also to learn to speak and hear other people and respect their opinions and differences. Not everyone has to think the same way, and consistency is important, practice, practice, practice, to do and execute great work you have to work out for perfection.
