Rising Stars: Meet Bibi Miranda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bibi Miranda. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Bibi Miranda

Cousins, Bibi and Laura Miranda, both accomplished busy moms and entrepreneurs, established Palma & Coco with a vision to offer a thoughtfully curated collection of tropical kids’ wear sourced from diverse corners of the globe.

They began the business when Laura who lives in Costs Rica would bring gifts of local CR designer Sylvia Santacruz Swimwear to Bibi´s kids, Bibi immediately fell in love with the brand and saw that every time her kids wore the suits moms and others kids asked about them. They got the idea to bring the Sylvia Santacruz brand to the US Market. “We believe in vibrant and fun clothes that are both accessible and fun and different from what you find in store. We want children and moms to feel fashionable and comfortable when at a pool party, resort, or lounging in their backyard.”

Hailing from the vibrant locales of Miami, Florida, and San Jose, Costa Rica, Bibi and Laura share a profound appreciation for travel, fashion, and, most importantly, their families. Their common passion for discovering and exchanging unique treasures became the catalyst for the creation of Palma & Coco. This endeavor is a testament to their commitment to making exceptional international brands accessible to contemporary mothers who, like them, juggle the demands of a dynamic lifestyle.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Establishing awareness for our exceptional products nationwide has proven to be a challenge.

We aspire to have our remarkable brand recognized throughout the entire US, enabling mothers to discover stylish affordable swim and resort wear for their children that boasts excellent quality, UV protection, lively prints, and contemporary designs.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Bibi and Laura work together with Sylvia Santacruz to pick out the coolest and liveliest fabrics to create fun tropical wear from swimsuits to matching wrap skirts, maxi dresses, and mommy and me wear. All pieces are handmade with love. They currently carry boys’ and girls’ swimwear for 6 months to 12 years. Women’s bodysuits and wrap skirts.

Men´s swimwear and Girls’ swimsuits 12+ can be special ordered. To reduce waste, Sylvia uses almost all the swimsuit scraps to make beautiful hair accessories (all complimentary with each suit), doll swimsuits, and doll skirts.

Living in such a green country as Costa Rica, this is only a little initiative but where we can see that waste can be manageable and even the littlest of scraps can make beautiful products.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We feel fortunate to collaborate with an extraordinary team of talented mothers. From Bibi and Laura on the business front to Sylvia in design, along with her skilled seamstress, each of them pours their passion into ensuring the exceptional quality of our products.
