Today we’d like to introduce you to Valiin Martinez.
Hi Valiin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Two years back, I bounced back to Miami, my hometown, from Newport Beach, California, following a breakup. *Cue the sage and palo santo.* Returning to Miami was a bit of a love-hate relationship. Sometimes, Miami can feel like a bubble, especially if you’ve grown up here and, more specifically, attended private school. I sensed the need to shake things up and step out of my comfort zone. I told myself I was doing things differently this time.
After securing a job, I found myself feeling unfulfilled after being stuck in the same career for over five years. That year was a tough one—family health scares, emergency surgery with month-long hospital stays, and the heartbreaking news of my grandmother’s dementia diagnosis and eventual passing. At one point, I questioned. Will it ever get better? It became clear to me that I was ready for a change; I just wasn’t sure when that change would happen. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. I questioned absolutely everything, but I told myself what’s the worst that can happen? I have to go back and get a job.
I knew I wanted to dive into marketing, so I started applying for jobs, focusing on sectors like beauty, wellness, and fashion. It’s a space I love, and I embody it. I craved a space where I could unleash my creative freedom. It wasn’t until my grandmother’s passing that the light bulb flickered on, and I decided to start my creative agency. And so, aura creatives were born.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, first things first, it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride, but I’m loving every second of it. You discover a whole bunch about yourself, and honestly, there’s a lesson tucked into everything. Building something from scratch is no walk in the park. There’s no real guidebook or manual on how to run your own business.
A lot of people assume entrepreneurship means raking in thousands of dollars, but the reality is you often have to take a pay cut, pour money back into your business, and face moments where you need to pivot and find solutions. You become a one-person show, juggling roles from administration to lead content creator to social coordinator—and pretty much everything in between.
It’s been a journey, learning to fall in love with my Miami all over again and discovering where I truly belong. Finding my people in this process has been tough, but I’ve held onto this one belief: growth doesn’t happen in your comfort zone.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aura Creatives was born out of a deep passion for everything beauty, wellness, and fashion—whether it’s for a business or a brand. Our services include social media management, branding, and content creation, all delivered with a touch of curated and tailored strategy.
What I’m particularly proud of is the community we’ve built. The folks I’ve crossed paths with on this journey, those who cheer me on and shower me with love and support, mean the world to me. It’s these connections that make what we do at Aura Creatives truly special.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
If anyone takes anything from this story it’s if you feel lost, or unsure of the future, or like you’re at the lowest point. I promise you it is cliche, but it gets sooooo much better. Learning to turn negatives into positives and understand that although the light at the end of the tunnel may seem so far out.
It’s there, keep going because you owe that to yourself. Give yourself grace at the end of the day we are human. I want people to know that you can rebuild yourself from the ground up and you can start over at any age! Life doesn’t end at any age. So, rebrand yourself as many times as you want. Let go of the idea of what other people will think. You have one life, so live it and take the leap whatever that may look like for you.
I was once in that same position, push through and let yourself shine. Lead with love and be secure in yourself. At the end of the day, it always works out the way it was meant to be.
