Meet Tiffany Lee Martin of Arohma Therapy in Davie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Lee Martin.

Tiffany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story is one of shifts and turns as most stories tend to be. After high school, I was blessed with a scholarship to study medical esthetics at the Florida College of Natural Health. I was enamored with the largest organ of the body, the skin. I happily worked in some of South Florida’s most beautiful spas and medi-spas with prestigious product lines and learned all the latest facial trends. Everyone, everywhere, always had the same goal – “radiant beautiful skin.” As time went on, I began cultivating an enriched perspective, this highly sought out glow was actually a manifestation from within. Suddenly a whole other world filled with essential oils, mindful nutrition, meditation and Reiki became my daily beauty rituals.

As the universe would have it, at the time of integrating these new practices, I would be given the greatest plot twist in my path. I was in a automobile accident that quite frankly, rattled my world, my path and certainly my face. Black and blue, facial stitches, knee and neck brace. I suppose I needed a good rattling to bring me to the depths I faced within myself. Suddenly, this concept of radiating beauty was replaced by radiating pain and questioning how to exist in this new body. At this time, I was not yet able to return to work. And here is where in my most painful place, in my vulnerable place… I was introduced to a medicine that awoke my heart and my healing. I had the ability to breathe again, to move again, to dance again, to dream again. So of course, what did I do? I began my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I will fast forward in time, to be here now. I have been practicing Chinese Medicine for ten years, I have a small sanctuary called Arohma Therapy, I am blessed to call my own. Every day, with every patient I am humbled and reminded of the divine synchronicity that brought me here. Arohma Therapy has two treatment rooms, a crystal boutique and an open area used for classes and meditation circles.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have all faced challenging aspects in our story. These in some way, can be perceived as our greatest gifts. Our greatest testament to our endurance and ability to transform and grow.

There are so many extraordinary practitioners in this field, actually in all fields and practices. When I finally understood that we all have our gifts and medicine, it gave me the freedom to create and flow in my own rhythm. Practicing medicine my way, at the same time honoring my teachers and all those that walked before me and beside me. Cultivating my practice from my heart in such a way that is completely unique to me.

Being an empty vessel allows me to release the shackles of my mind and truly be in the moment with each patient. In this space, every word, body movement, and physical manifestation becomes a sort of poetic dance of this person moving through the world. If my mind is clear, I can see and feel more clearly. I can be more present for each and every patient’s experience. Whether it be physical pain, struggles with fertility, side effects from chemotherapy, or simply acne. I need to be clear minded, present, and receptive.

It is inevitable, some days my mind will wander and I need rest. I will always face this journey, getting out of my head and into my heart. Spending quiet time in nature, meditating with the moon and laughing with my family rejuvenates me. I feel very grateful for this cultivation, but trust it is always needed. I know that staying in integrity with my self care will allow me to be the best physician/person I can be.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am an Acupuncture Physician, Paramedical Aesthetician and Reiki Master Teacher. I am also a mother, a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend and a human being. All of these titles are equally important to my practice and genuinely bestow upon me my greatest blessings and teachings.

My heart sings every time I open my sanctuary door in the morning. I set the space for all of those booked for the day, looking over each name with gratitude. This has not changed since I began practicing. Everyday is unique, just as each person is. A session on any given day can vary from a very traditional clinical methodology with needling, cupping and tui na to an integrated session with essential oils, sound bowls and Reiki.

I am humbled daily by my practice. So many different people walking through my door, with so many different physical expressions and emotional experiences, so many different stories. The beauty of this practice is observing each person individually and holding the space for their process. However that looks or feels. We are all different and resonate with different things. There is something truly magical about feeling a shift in someone’s pulse and suddenly their muscles release and their facial expression softens. A new energy emerges and maybe even a smile!

Arohma Therapy is a small boutique style facility. I practice the Acupuncture and Aesthetics and have an incredibly talented Massage Therapist, Kadirah Abdel-Muhti on my team. We both share the same vision in patient care and work from the heart. We utilize all organic and fair trade products in our treatments. We use Eminence organics in our facials, and a large variety of custom blended essential oils.

Our treatment scope is broad and ranges greatly but here are a few general examples our patients seek our care: pain management, fertility, stress management, menstrual health, hormone balancing, anti-aging, dermatology, oncology, weight loss, addiction, respiratory health, immune boosting, energy balancing, sleep disharmonies, etc.

What were you like growing up?
Well this made me giggle. I would like to use the description, “a sweet little angel,” and secretly watch as my sister read it. I was a free spirited spunky child. I loved writing, nature, and getting into mischief.

I was a girl scout, and remain best friends with those girls to this day! My partners in crime! I am sure our scout leaders could share some entertaining stories. I finally found my people in middle school…rainbow hair and all black everything from makeup to clothing. My Scorpio inner child was thrilled! My high school years remained in full rebellious spirit. My bedroom was a magical fairy land of college punk rock bands and mushroom posters. Oh, those wondrous black lights really created quite an ambiance. I had my fair share of exploratory moments, through poetry, dance and lots of bass filled music. I realized now, those pulsing beats and feelings of liberation were the starting point of me feeling something energetically greater than myself. Maybe all the head banging was an added benefit in allowing me to clear my mind. Either way, I am sure my parents wished it was a quieter awakening but we all have our path.
