Hi Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After starting my career in restaurant operations, I transitioned into marketing following the completion of my MBA. In the past 15 years, I have utilized my skills to develop successful brands in various industries. My true passion lies in creating meaningful customer experiences through genuine connections.
Along with my sister, we founded Uncharted Coffee as a tribute to our hard-working parents who always made time for us over a morning cup of coffee. For me, coffee is a reminder of my late mother and our bond over this beverage. What makes it even more special is its ability to bring people together and evoke cherished memories shared over a cup of coffee with loved ones.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Embarking on the Uncharted Coffee venture has been far from a seamless ride, rather resembling an emotionally intense rollercoaster with its fair share of ups and downs.
One of the most formidable hurdles we encountered right from the start, causing a delay in our launch, was packaging. While locating a designer may seem straightforward, discovering someone who truly comprehends the nuances of consumer packaging proved to be an incredibly arduous task.

Uncharted Coffee is a black women-owned business certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). As an ethical coffee roaster, Uncharted Coffee produces rare and limited-edition coffee beans, all while being on a mission to decolonize coffee and reclaim the narrative for Black and Brown generational coffee farmers around the globe. Uncharted Coffee has an ethical supply chain by partnering directly with small cooperatives to source their single-origin beans.
Taking a step further to limit the environmental factors done by the coffee industry, all Uncharted Coffee is packaged in plant-based compostable packaging, and each sale contributes to their 1% promise to the planet. The story behind each bean is told with the help of blockchain technology, which allows Uncharted Coffee to create more transparency within the industry. With their unique model, straying away from profit-driven trade to a balanced, conscious capitalism model, Uncharted Coffee supports farmers where they are, by directly impacting communities through direct fair wages and prioritizing livelihoods.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
Yes, COVID has shifted the coffee industry in a few ways 1) people started drinking more coffee at home 2) people became curious and wanted to start making coffee beverages at home.
