Meet Lisa Bobotas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Bobotas.

Lisa Bobotas

Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
HI. I am a mediator with maze resolutions but litigation was my start, criminal then civil, and was always the underlying foundation for my work. I actively litigated for the first half of my career and then managed litigation, among other things, as an in-house counsel for a financial institution.

After participating in numerous mediations as a party and taking many mediation training courses over the years, I jumped at the opportunity to mediate for Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in their County Court system. It has been a wonderful experience, which I now use for private dispute resolution work at Maze Resolutions.  I am also a traffic hearing officer in Miami-Dade County.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was hard for me to meditate while also being a practicing attorney because I did not have the necessary time to do so however, I was able to pivot during the pandemic and make the time. It has been a wonderful transition and worth the wait.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Banking and business are my areas. If something is related to a banking matter, I can discuss it, understand it, and figure it out. People tell me things that happened in a transaction and I know the reality of the situation. At one point, I was managing litigation for A bank across twelve states and mediating in most of them.

What an experience – meeting and working with people, especially attorneys, all over the Southeast United States. I am proud that we, myself and other members of the legal department, were able to fairly resolve a significant number of cases. People love to ask me “insider” questions about banks but really, there is no secret, just act with common sense, courtesy, and honesty, like most things, and it will work out.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
It was usually school and sports. Those were my things. Luckily, growing up, I could do both from the same place so that made it easy on my parents.

They still are my things – reading, studying and exercise are still a big part of most of my days. And I love to laugh.

Always have and always will.
