Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Royal.
Hi Amy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am a professional personal shopper, stylist, and closet concierge. As we know, the world shut down. During Covid. I took the opportunity to have a pattern created of a piece I had envisioned myself wearing. I love fabrics and have collected some favorites., along with fabric trims. I was blessed to know an excellent seamstress, who I hired to sew my dress. I loved the final product!
As the world started to open, I wore my dress out and about. The overwhelmingly positive response was unexpected. As more women asked if I would create a piece for them, I decided to the risk and give them what they wanted! It has been an organic process, with lots of twists and turns on this journey. I am so grateful to be use my more creative vision to make each piece as individual, unique, and special, just like its wearer!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a family of 6 children, all grown now. When I became an empty nester, I went back into the fashion biz, utilizing my fashion degree (pre-motherhood). I secured a full-time position with Saks Fifth Avenue in the designer dept. as a stylist. 7 years ago, that term didn’t exist. I was a full-time saleswoman. I excelled, as a result of my love for fashion and hard work! Clients began to request I come to their homes, helping them with their wardrobes and closets: my concierge business began!
My fashion journey over the past 8 years, (the start of work after running a household and full-time motherhood) has been filled with exciting opportunities. My unique approach to pattern play, color, and ability to create the unexpected, had appealed to my clients either in a store setting, with them individually, and now through designing my products/pieces. Every opportunity is a learning curve, which I embrace and am grateful for.
Any big plans?
I am excited to be creating new designs, and introducing myself to my brand, I also have an opportunity to work with Palm Beach Historical Society, with its upcoming “Endless Summer” event. It highlights resort wear designers through the ages, both traditional and new!
