Daily Inspiration: Meet Evan Narlinger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Narlinger.

Evan Narlinger

Hi Evan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2016, I was invited to a Steampunk Christmas Party hosted by a local Cidery Brewery. Not knowing what that was I was greeted by people wearing top hats, goggles, corsets, and other oddities. There was a band in the corner playing covers by well-known bands, in the most unique way. With instruments including a banjo with a horn attached, a washboard, keys, and some percussion.

Everyone was dancing a jig. Having a background in live events, concerts, and festivals I was intrigued by the sound and the visuals. From there, it has just grown into a personal passion of mine. I love everything about it. Creativity, inspiration, and imagination. Whether you love music, art, inventions, literature, fashion, or science fiction, there is a place in the Steampunk world for everyone.

I have been in the live events industry for several years having begun my West Palm Beach-based entertainment and production services company in 1999. Going through the years of the pandemic made me consider what I wanted to accomplish. To find what I enjoyed doing. I realized it was Steampunk. I just felt there was so much there that I wanted to share it with a wider audience.

Having the background, I have and working on the shows and events that I have done over the years just led me to believe that last year was the time to try. We did and now we are back for year two.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

For our first event last year, I think we did pretty well.

We did have an unexpected hurricane to deal with last year. We feel listened to those who joined us last year and have made some changes for an even better adventure.

In the early days, I was focused on working with DJs, nightclubs, and raves. Through the years our production team and crew services have been involved with local and national productions, events, concerts, and festivals. Many promoters of cosplay events and comi cons tend to start doing them because of their passion. Many don’t come from a background building or promoting shows.  With my company’s 24 years of experience creating shows adding in the passion part is what makes our events unique.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started Rebekah’s Dreams Entertainment & Production Services in 1999 when I was 24 years old.

In the early days, I was focused on working with DJs, nightclubs, and raves. Through the years our production team and crew services have been involved with local and national productions.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I wanted to be in the theater. I thought I would be an actor. In high school, I found tech and it changed my life.
