Today we’d like to introduce you to Lolita Oliveri.
Hi Lolita, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started 6 years ago quite by chance. I had been sewing bikinis for fun for a few weeks, the finishes weren’t great but I was improving little by little. I then posted the creations on Snapchat and a friend contacted me to create a personalized and tailor-made one for her.
Once on vacation, my friend posted a photo of her wearing my creation and from that moment I received lots of messages and several people ordered a custom swimsuit from me. It was from that moment that I looked for a brand name and created an Instagram page.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At the beginning it seemed easy to me because I didn’t put a lot of pressure on myself, I had my work on the side and did things a lot by feeling. But then, once you commit to it full time, invest money in it, and especially as the brand grows, it becomes much more stressful.
The hardest part, in my opinion, is to hold on over time, to remain patient and persistent because it takes a lot of time. Developing a “luxury” brand requires more time than a fast fashion brand because sales are fewer and the costs of materials are also higher.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the owner of LO.OLI.TA SWIMWEAR. I created my brand 6 years ago and I manage everything. I’m a designer, pattern maker, seamstress, photographer, community manager, web designer, model, etc.
What sets me apart from others is the fact that I create tailor-made swimsuits, totally customizable and reversible.
What also sets me apart in my opinion is that I did everything alone, from design to manufacturing to visual identity.
I can be a designer one day and a photographer the next.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up thanks to the tailor-made service which was not offered by any other swimsuit brand but above all thanks to the very feminist identity of the brand.
My brand is sexy and promotes self-confidence, and the emancipation of women. I also had the chance to be highlighted by a lot of public figures (influencers, models, singers, actresses, etc.)
Pricing:
- Approximately 125€ for e-shop
- From 155€ to … (it depends on the model) for the tailor-made service
