Today we’d like to introduce you to Irving Stokes.
Hi Irving, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – To start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
The start of my journey is a unique and beautiful one. I engaged in my love for music as a kid during a time in my life when it was rough, challenging, and difficult all in one. I never thought music would give me such relief and happiness until one day I started my path to becoming a musician.
As I grew and developed my relationship with music I then figured out that I could write songs that could change the world or have a positive impact on those who listen. Shortly after that, a few years up the road I then began to take on becoming an independent artist full time I loved everything about hearing my voice on a beat and being able to create different sounds with my voice to enhance my song so that the listeners can enjoy the vibes God & me created together. I don’t know where I would be without God in my life probably wouldn’t have been here alive for sure.
There’s a point in my life where as a kid I wanted to commit suicide twice and I’m so glad that I didn’t do that because then I wouldn’t have gotten to see the man I am today. In further detail, I am currently working on new things like becoming an author and working on new music as well that will soon be released later this year or next year. I want to build a legacy that will impact not only the people but the world and make my dad proud who is sadly gone from this earth. I hope that lives will be changed by the creative gift I deeply possess.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s always been battles to fight when living out your God-given purpose. However, at this moment, everyone should know that you don’t have to fight them alone. I had to learn that in my experiences although sometimes I am comfortable taking on my struggles and facing them head-on. There’s still a need for community and a solid support system, especially for creatives as a whole.
We have so much on our brains and in our hearts to say, do, & plan that we sometimes forget to take time to share those things with the people we genuinely feel have our best interest as well as truly care about us. The greatest quotes that I hold dear to me came from two legends Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle “Jobs Not Finished” and “The Marathon Continues.” These words mean simply there’s more work to be done at your own pace and the road to success isn’t complete until you’ve fulfilled your purpose.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an independent artist who creates music of purpose that will motivate, inspire, uplift, and encourage all generations young and old to chase their dreams and live out their purpose with everything they’ve got.
I’m very proud that my music has been doing that since 2018 and as the positive voice I IrvTheGreat will continue to do so until it comes to an end.
I’m truly excited to share my books with the world I think that’s what sets me apart is that I’m walking in my purpose doing what I love by making an impact through my gifts/talents while doing it all my way.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
What God put in you, you can’t run from. That’s the most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey in life. You gotta embrace your calling own it and be proud to do it.
No matter the cost no matter the trials and tribulations no matter the path way you take. You gotta accept the call on your life.
