Exploring Life & Business with Kathy Avila of Kathy Avila Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Avila.

Kathy Avila

Hi Kathy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Lexington KY but when I was very young my parents moved back. Colombia where I grew up, that’s why I feel identified as Colombian. Since I was a little girl, I have been very outgoing, talkative, creative, super friendly, and loving to help others, which led me to study law.

However, my studies in law developed my character and led me to what I am today. I moved back to the United States almost 20 years ago to live in New Jersey right after I finished my studies, looking to learn English and start a new life. I began this journey of serving the community at my first job consisting of helping single Mothers who need aid to continue working and have access to child care for their children to be able to provide for their homes., I learned a lot about how the social system worked and the needs in society.

As time went by, I became a wife, and the most important role in my life is the mother of two beautiful human beings Sophia and Sarah who are my main reason for being better and striving every day. I want to leave my legacy in them in teach them that we have to break any barrier and dedicate ourselves to what we like to do and that’s why they decided to move from the Garden States to the Sunshine States. Dedicating myself to being a full-time mother and enjoying my girl’s childhood to the max also allows me to concentrate on deciding how I want to resume my professional life.

Thanks to my knowledge and my public relations skills I opened the doors for my first medical practice job and I am grateful to this day for the opportunity. Believe in me, and for everything that they taught me in the administrative and operational parts of running a primary care practice office. From there begins this shift allowing obtain the position of Sales Director in different practices in Dade County where my responsibility is to grow the company name, and sales strategies, and create network/relationships and communications.

This has allowed me to gain recognition in the healthcare marketing industry because I am not only given my professional knowledge, creativity, and skills but also I give the best of my in each project because I finally found what I do my true passion and my calling. I specialized in the field of Medicare, working with the elderly guiding and orienting them in all the services and benefits that they can obtain or be eligible for is my greatest gratification. That’s why I offer seminars to the community to update them on every service that they could obtain as a Medicare beneficiary. I love my job and love to help, connect, and communicate.

Every job has its rewards in mine helping our seniors is giving back what one day they did for us, it is part of the cycle of life and that is why I do it with all my love and my contribution to help my community. Like Steve Jobs says “When you love what you do, you don’t work another day in your life”. Today, I can say from the bottom of my heart that I don’t work I fully enjoy what I do. My advice and motto for those who read this and have not found what you love to do, keep looking. You will know when you find it because you will feel it in your heart.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life is easy, you always have to work hard, strive, be brave, and give the best of you every day. The obstacles are part of everyone’s process and depends on you to use them for your growth, to continue and move ahead with your purpose.

For me what it refers to is the health industry in Miami. We see that there is a lot of competition but my authenticity, confidence, and respect for colleagues are what have allowed overcome obstacles to obtain their respect and job recognition.

My challenge is to create new ways to bring educational information to the Seniors community who are unaware of the benefits that will make this stage of their life the best of all.

What matters most to you?
Being able to impact someone’s life by being oriented with information that will improve ensuring and caring for the most precious thing we have in life, which is our health. It’s for me what matters the most.
