Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphnie Montoya.

Daphnie Montoya

Daphnie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my journey with you.

My brand, the DMXperience, has been shaped by a combination of my personal experiences and my professional background. With over 10 years in the hospitality industry and owning my own beauty business for over 15 years. I gained insights into the importance of marketing in today’s rapidly changing landscape.

Transitioning from a hands-on role to becoming my boss allowed me to witness firsthand the impact of marketing strategies on a business’s success. This experience motivated me to delve into social media marketing, where I found myself learning, adapting, and growing in the digital realm.

My relationship with food, stemming from my upbringing and my family’s involvement in the restaurant business, led me to explore content creation within the food & beverage industry. When I was gifted my first DSLR camera by my boyfriend, I discovered a newfound passion and embraced the role of a content creator.

Through research, networking events, and continuous learning, I honed my skills and established the DMXperience. Today, I not only consult small businesses but also create content for diverse brands and cover notable events like the SoBe Food and Wine Festival, Dessert Wars, and many more. While starting on Instagram, I’ve expanded to platforms like Pinterest and TikTok, with plans to revamp my website and blog.

I believe that my journey has fulfilled the initial goals I set for the DMXperience. Now, my focus is on refining and enhancing every aspect while continuing its growth trajectory. My journey exemplifies adaptability, continuous learning, and a passion for embracing modern marketing strategies.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been completely smooth, but it’s also far from a rocky road. Challenges are an inherent part of any journey, and I firmly believe that anyone who claims to have had no struggles is not being entirely truthful. Throughout my path, I encountered various obstacles that have contributed to my growth and learning.

Learning the nuances of modern marketing was a significant hurdle. Adapting to the intricacies of social media marketing, staying updated with features and the ever-changing landscape, and striving for specific outcomes brought its fair share of challenges. The unpredictable nature of algorithms added an extra layer of complexity, making it evident that success isn’t always guaranteed even with the right strategies.

Navigating the realm of collaborations with brands was another challenge. Ensuring my protection as a creator while aligning with a business’s needs for the right content required a delicate balance.

What’s inspiring about these challenges is that they’ve all come with invaluable lessons. Each obstacle was a chance to refine my approach, determine the best course of action, and make informed decisions moving forward.

In essence, each challenge has equipped me with the tools to better navigate future hurdles. Trying different strategies, learning from the outcomes, and adapting as needed have been key to making progress. While the journey hasn’t been entirely obstacle-free, I’m grateful for the lessons learned and the continuous improvement that has resulted from facing and overcoming these challenges.

Thanks – So what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My professional journey has been a dynamic and enriching one, marked by diverse experiences that have shaped both my career and my brand. Currently, I serve as a Social Director for a private residential community within one of the largest full-service property management companies nationwide. Before this role, I took on responsibilities as a Property Manager for multiple associations across Broward and Miami-Dade County, even overseeing some of the iconic skyscrapers that grace our bustling metropolitan landscape.

The beauty of my current career is that it aligns seamlessly with my brand. As a Social Director, I’m dedicated to creating social activities and events that foster a sense of community among residents. This passion resonates deeply with my brand’s mission, which centers around bringing people together through unique and creative content. Whether it’s curating experiences for vacations, suggesting birthday celebrations, planning date nights, or arranging girls’ nights out, my goal remains consistent: to facilitate connections and enjoyable moments.

My journey into this profession has been marked by a rapid accumulation of experience. At a young age, I helped manage my parents’ construction business and functions that streamlined their operations. My involvement in the restaurant industry followed a similar path, where I contributed to the smooth functioning of various aspects. Organizational skills, operational prowess, and management acumen propelled me forward, thriving in fast-paced environments that demanded multitasking and creative problem-solving.

During high school, I embarked on yet another venture, starting a nail business and even attending beauty school covertly. This move led me to an unexpected array of opportunities, from working with business owners and celebrities to athletes. Later, I transitioned to property management, where I had the privilege of managing and designing luxury spas as a project manager for a prominent amenity company in South Florida.

Fast forward to my college years, I was dedicated to events and entertainment, a focus that was rooted in my degree. Though I temporarily set events aside, I never lost my passion for crafting memorable experiences. Today, I revel in the autonomy of curating my events, reflecting my vision and style. With my current role, I’ve found a fulfilling marriage of creativity and community-building, where I’m able to harness my passion and make a meaningful impact on residents’ lives.

In the intersection of my career and brand lies a sense of purpose that transcends work. The opportunity to do what I’m passionate about, both professionally and through my own business, is a privilege I’m incredibly grateful for. It’s a testament to the culmination of diverse experiences and unwavering dedication to what truly resonates with me.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
While books aren’t typically my go-to for downtime, my busy schedule leaves me seeking alternatives to stay informed and inspired. Podcasts have become a fantastic way for me to unwind and gain insights while on the move. ‘Baby This is Keke Palmer’s’ podcast is an absolute favorite of mine. KekePalmer’s real-life discussions and hilarious take on various topics offer me a refreshing break from my usual work and business-oriented thoughts. It’s a great way for me to unplug and enjoy some light-hearted content.

Another podcast that I find immensely valuable is “Motivation Daily” by Motiversity. With my demanding schedule, moments of anxiety can creep in. This podcast serves as a quick boost of motivation, and each episode, lasting no longer than 10 minutes, helps me reset my mindset and approach challenges with renewed energy.

When I do dive into books, it’s often for professional development or certification purposes. I’m always up to something new, whether it’s pursuing certification or gaining licenses.

Blogs are a personal favorite of mine, providing insightful and easily digestible information to enhance various aspects of my work and business. My process typically involves starting on Pinterest, where I explore topics of interest. From there, I discover blogs or articles that offer practical advice and strategies for improvement.

These tools are essential for maintaining a balance between work, business, and personal development, all while fitting seamlessly into my busy schedule
