Today we’d like to introduce you to Dessire Bracho.
Hi Dessire, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – To start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Since I was young anything within the design inspired me. I would paint, and draw interior houses, I loved fashion so when I grew up I decided to study Interior Design in my country Venezuela where I got my degree from.
After years of living and doing courses in London, working for a curtains and wallpaper company here in Miami, while at the same time designing interiors for DEBRA DESIGN my studio, I discovered that, that combination of it all made me more passionate about the use of bold colors, patterns, and textures so I could create unique spaces and for all of that. There is DEWALL with 3 years in the business and a showroom opening in two weeks, DEWALL is all together: Design, Wallcoverings, murals, fabrics, custom drapes, and upholstery options for residential and commercial interiors and that’s my new baby.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To make people believe in me, in my style, basically to make them lean into big and bold decisions when it comes to color and patterns for their interiors.
It has not been easy mostly here in Miami where what prevails is that “beachy style”, a neutral color scheme, raffia textures, wooden materials, etc. which I also love too but we have seen it so much lately that is no longer unique!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do residential and commercial interior design for DEBRA DESIGN my studio and through that journey. The fact that I have been integrating and combining fabrics with wallpapers for many years made me discover not only the beauty of this infinite world of textures and styles but that was an element through which I could perfectly express myself as a maximalist.
I believe in the more-is-more philosophy I will often blend an eclectic mix of patterns, colors, and textures and for that reason, I created DEWALL LLC which is all interiors related: DESIGN, WALLPAPERS, WINDOW TREATMENTS, FABRICS AND UPHOLSTERY and that sets me apart from others.
I feel like I can reach into the past and bring back what is good and lasting with the juxtaposition of new versus old and luxury versus basic and that’s what I am now specializing more in to try to create more unique spaces through DEWALL.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
SHADELUX a window treatment manufacturer and wallpaper distributor was one of the first companies I worked for when I moved to Miami and It was like I never left.
Pablo Nuta taught me a lot about the products, how to sell and offer them and even some installation knowledge that you have to know in addition to that, I met a lot of people in the field, like the brand’s representative and clients that I still have since then.
Since I got my way, I have been traveling and contacting all these unique high-end brands all around the world to have them in my showroom. I have been making a very careful selection of bold mix-and-match options, sometimes funky with accent colors as well as versatile and neutral designs.
