Community Highlights: Meet Lauren Klein of Flourish Law Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Klein.

Lauren Klein

Hi Lauren, Thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before co-founding Flourish Law Group with my partner, Kristen Landon, I was an attorney with the largest private wealth services group in the nation and I worked with some of the wealthiest families in the world, advising them on tax and estate planning.

Over my 11+ year law career, I noticed some major gaps in the estate planning industry and I truly wanted to be able to serve families in the community, families just like mine. We founded our firm to normalize estate planning, filling in those major gaps that I mentioned, and sharing our highly specialized knowledge and skillset while being relatable and authentic.

Around the time that I started in Biglaw, I realized that I was suffering from major imposter syndrome, a lack of confidence in myself, and that I was running through every day without catching or breath or being intentional about my time and energy.

I began a journey of self-development and mindset work that led me to create a coaching program for women law students, The Law School Blueprint {For Her}, and a corresponding mastermind, The Wealthy Future Lawyer $quad. I am also the mom of two little boys and married to my best friend.

Outside of my career, I love to travel, try new food, and read as many books as possible.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road! One of the biggest struggles I encountered along the way was feeling like I wasn’t worthy of success or that I was an imposter. As the first attorney in my family and a woman in a male-dominated industry, I constantly felt like I was out of place and my anxiety and stress level were very high.

When I received a job in one of the largest law firms in the country, I realized I had some major inner work to do if I was going to survive, let alone thrive in my legal career. So I began a journey focused on understanding my brain, learning all about mindset work, increasing my self-confidence overcoming imposter syndrome, and so much more.

And the craziest thing happened: not only did I enjoy my law career (and life overall) so much more, but I also started to become a better attorney. It was like I had unlocked some secret and I decided that I had to share it with the next generation of lawyers!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Flourish Law Group, we collectively have 20+ years of experience in trusts and estates, banking, and wealth management. We only handle estate planning, elder law, and probate administration matters.

Before starting our firm, my partner and I worked with high-net-worth clients, and we decided that we wanted to bring that expertise to our Florida community, to help them protect their assets and legacy, name guardians for their minor children, avoid probate, and create generational wealth.

I would say what sets us apart from other estate planning attorneys, other than our highly specialized experience, is that we are extremely passionate about educating our clients and community, we harness technology to be efficient and stay ahead of the curve, and we strive to fill in major gaps that often occur in the estate planning industry.

For example, we assist our clients with making sure their estate plan will work when needed, generally upon incapacity or death, by helping align their assets with their plan and by meeting with them every year to stay on top of any major life changes, as part of their estate planning package. We are also very proud to offer flat fee billing, which our clients love,

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe that calculated risk can be very important to growing and evolving in one’s life and career. In some ways, it may seem that starting our law firm was risky – we both left high-paying, corporate jobs to start Flourish Law Group.

But, for me, the greater risk was to not follow my passion and my gut instinct that our boutique firm would be very successful and help our community.
