Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Ojeda.
Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion story starts at the age of 9 years old as I discovered the art form of being a DJ. I learned early on that music and performing were in my blood and being that my family owned and operated a mobile DJ company in Long Island it was easy to chase that dream.
At the age of 15, I started my journey into DJing in nightclubs and never turned back.
Throughout my career, it led me to play music venues across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and overseas and also led me to play with some of the biggest names in the business like Tiesto, Deadmau5, and Erick Morillo in a back-to-back set at the legendary Pacha Ibiza. After decades of success in the DJ world, I began to think of what next for Jason as I didn’t want to become the “old man” behind the decks and it led me to my other passion, audio.
In my early 30s, I built my first sound system for a club called Tavern located in the super chic area known as the Hamptons in eastern Long Island. It was sort of a custom/hybrid sound system using current digital technology but also remembering the historic theories of legendary audio designer Richard Long. That one sound system changed my life as it led to many more and building a sustainable business that is over 20 years strong.
Today, I own and operate Global AV Group based out of NYC, and with 50% of our installs happening nationally and outside our home area, the name of our brand now makes complete sense. We take the utmost pride in our designs and guest experience, we are not your cookie-cutter AV company. Our team consists of experts in the hospitality space who truly understand how to make the guest experience a memorable one. When proper design is implemented, the guest stays longer resulting in additional sales and a better overall experience for the venue. Global AV is always creating and leading with technology and thinking of what’s next for our industry.
Global is looking forward to a bright future with some amazing projects on the horizon. We are currently designing a full revamp for Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and RC Cola Factory in Wynwood, and are the exclusive AV contractor for The One Group (STK Steak and Kona Grill) nationally. Some of the prior clients we have had the pleasure of working with are Arlo Hotel Group, TAO Group, Gerber Group, and exclusive designer and integrator for all Supreme retail stores globally. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge we have faced in our lifetime has been getting products to sell since covid.
We doubled down in the first few months of the pandemic and purchased anything and everything we could find so we have never had a problem fulfilling an order.
