Hidden Gems: Meet Pierce Brehm of Magellan Ai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pierce Brehm.

Hi Pierce, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Like many of us, my journey has been one of growth and evolution, from my early days at industry giants like ADP, Paychex, and Benefitfocus, to more specialized experiences in the world of global people management with Safeguard Global. It was a world I stepped into just as the pandemic began shifting the paradigm of work, and an area that swiftly revealed itself as the future of the industry.

This rapid change, along with my inherent passion for empowering businesses with the right people, served as the catalyst for my venture into entrepreneurship, leading to the birth of Hollyn Growth Advisors. As a consultancy, we took on the mission of guiding SMBs through the intricacies of executing a global talent strategy. But the limitations of this model quickly became apparent, and it was clear that to truly make an impact, we needed to evolve.

The result was Magellan Ai, a transformed entity with a digitized and automated approach, underpinned by our proprietary technology, Magellan Match. We expanded our reach beyond one-to-one consultancy, connecting global corporations with a reservoir of unexplored talent from emerging markets in Africa and Latin America.

Our vision for Magellan Ai is more than just creating an innovative business; it’s about revolutionizing the way companies access talent globally and empowering individuals who might have otherwise been overlooked. By aiming to create 100,000 jobs in the next five years, we’re not just changing the dynamics of hiring, but also transforming lives and enriching economies.

This journey is about more than success in business; it’s about illustrating what can be achieved when ambition and integrity work hand in hand. It’s about fostering global connections, reshaping the future of work, and ultimately, creating a world where talent knows no borders.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurial paths are rarely straight or smooth, and mine was no exception. The loss of my father at an early age was a profound personal challenge, but it also instilled in me resilience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the human dimension in business – values that remain my guiding principles.

Professionally, stepping into the global HR niche just as the pandemic unleashed worldwide uncertainty was indeed a daunting endeavor. Yet, amidst the challenges, it served as an exceptional period of learning and growth. I would also say realizing the limitations of Hollyn Growth Advisors’ original business model was a tough but critical moment. It forced us to confront the scalability issue head-on, sparking the innovation and transformation that birthed Magellan Ai.

The journey from a traditional consultancy to a tech-enabled platform was steep and demanding, involving the development of our proprietary matchmaking technology and the digitization and automation of our processes. However, in retrospect, each struggle has served as a steppingstone, not just leading us to where we are today, but forming the strong foundation for our future growth.

In the entrepreneurial world, setbacks aren’t just inevitable; they are potent catalysts for growth, innovation, and transformation. It’s about persistence, learning from every stumble, and staying laser-focused on your mission. As we continue to navigate our path, these lessons remain at the heart of our journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of Magellan Ai. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Magellan Ai is more than a business; we are a mission-focused platform operating at the crossroads of technology and global talent acquisition. We help businesses unlock the vast potential of the global workforce by matching them with the best-fit EOR, global payroll, or contractor payment solutions, facilitating their seamless global expansion while ensuring compliance at all steps.

Our forthcoming talent database will feature potential hires from these regions, reinforcing our position as the leading resource for businesses aiming to diversify their workforce and go global.

From a brand perspective, I’m immensely proud of the reputation we’ve built as a trustworthy, transparent, and effective partner in the global HCM space. Our operations are anchored by our core values: integrity, respect, and unwavering customer-centricity.

When your readers think of Magellan Ai, I want them to understand that we’re not just offering a service – we’re spearheading a movement. Our goal is to generate 100,000 jobs in these emerging markets over the next five years. We are not merely reshaping the global employment landscape but transforming lives, fortifying businesses, and boosting economies in the process.

With Magellan Ai, companies aren’t just expanding their workforce; they’re joining us in democratizing global employment opportunities.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 crisis has served as a stark reminder of the value of adaptability, resilience, and compassion in the face of adversity. For us at Magellan Ai, it underscored how technology can act as a powerful tool for maintaining business continuity and driving growth in unpredictable times.

The shift towards remote work spurred by the pandemic has been transformative. It has accelerated the growth of industries like global EOR and created novel opportunities, influencing our strategic direction and facilitating our evolution into a tech-based platform. We’ve learned to adapt and innovate in response to the changing landscape, developing solutions like our proprietary Magellan Match technology.

The crisis has also reinforced the importance of empathy and understanding in our business dealings. Witnessing the impact of the pandemic on various regions and communities emphasized the need for inclusive growth and sustainable practices, principles that now guide our mission of job creation in emerging markets.

Finally, on a personal level, the pandemic has reiterated the importance of work-life balance and self-care in an increasingly blended work and home environment. In essence, the COVID-19 crisis has shaped our approach to business, reinforcing our commitment to ethical, sustainable practices that benefit not just our clients but also the global community we serve.
