Conversations with Alex Dor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Dor.

Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started in 2009. I was originally involved in music. I was approached by a classmate that was intrigued by my style.

Together, we launched the clothing line. Life and other ventures pulled my classmate away. Meanwhile, I fell more in love with fashion and continued the brand. I completed the rebranding and continued to move forward making it scalable and profitable.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been struggles along the way. Financially, I took a lot of risks with my own money to ensure there was quantity to meet demand. There were many times in which I was a one-man show.

Hence, I had to make a lot of sacrifices for the success of the brand. I had to set boundaries with family and friends. I also worked extremely hard to cater my product to my target audience through customer feedback on designs, quality, etc.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I was born in Haïti and came to Florida when I was 13. I am extremely proud of my Haitian Heritage and it’s evident through my work. Some of my designs are inspired by the culture and I frequently use ambassadors of Haitian descent.

There are not a lot of Haitian designers so I take pride in that uniqueness and also the responsibility of being a role model to young Haitian kids. I think it’s important for them to see there is space for them in the fashion industry.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me by directly contacting me. I’m always open to meaningful partnerships and collaborations.
