Daily Inspiration: Meet Denisse Jimenez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denisse Jimenez.

Hi Denisse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was little, I spent time watching television programs about design and fashion with my grandmother, who was a tailor. I think that’s where my love began, my eyes shone every time I saw them.

My beginnings arose on a computer, at the age of 12, I learned to use Photoshop, and I made designs and edited photos for myself and my friends, years later my interest rose to rise and as a gift of 15, I asked for a professional camera, my creativity began to emerge afloat I took many photographs, worked on many projects, participated in contests and above all, I related to people from the environment who inspired me much more.

When I finished school, I took a sabbatical year, where I was able to explore many areas of design and art, which led me to decide to study integral design. There were many years of learning challenges, and there were people who did not believe in my abilities but for me, it was only important to fulfill my dream.

What I liked the most about my career is that I was able to experiment with various dream areas, especially those that I was most passionate about, which are graphic design, photography, interior design, and fashion design. I finished my career graduating with honors academic but despite that, I felt that in the city I was in I would not get where I wanted.

Different situations happened in my country which threatened my safety and that of my family, so I decided to leave the country for a while to visit the city of Miami, which stole my heart with its sunsets, so during my stay here I decided to stay because, in the same way, the situation that I was going through in my country did not change.

So I started a life here, beginning my professional life in this country, I worked in a design studio that was also a printing press and a small museum, in which I learned many things, I worked with brands and well-known people here in Miami, but I wasn’t very happy working on other people’s dream, so after a while, I quit and decided to do things on my own.

I started my first project Nisse Rosse, which is a brand design studio, I not only make a logo but also create an identity, that’s how I create brands with soul and personality, it’s a super fun project with which I can connect with people and I capture exactly what they want and need. Sometime after this Voughia started an interior design studio between Miami and Madrid with my best friend from the university Isabel Puga, where we create sober and fun spaces like a good wine.

These 2 projects are currently still standing, apart from that I am also training in dressmaking and patronage since it was something I always wanted to do. I hope soon to show you the biggest project of my life, in which I want everyone to see it and have it in their hands, I can only tell you that it is my greatest passion, which is fashion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy path, the biggest problem has been the limitations that we believe we have, but by understanding that all processes are different and that does not make them less valuable, you can overcome any challenge.

For Latino society, the road is a bit long, since when you arrive in this country it is as if you were born again, you have to interact with new people, change ways of working and understand the needs of your environment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an integral designer, so let’s say that I have the license to practice all areas of design but we cannot be like Barbie, “the one that covers a lot does not squeeze” and it is true that I have 3 projects that are different, but I am lucky to have people who support me. Even so, I specialized in graphic design and interior design and I am currently training in fashion. which from my point of view complement each other very well.

What makes me most proud is helping people, when you understand that you come into this world to serve, everything in you changes, creating for others to see that what you did to them was useful or they liked it, also helping my colleagues and seeing how They grow because of some advice that I gave them, it is my greatest pride.

I think what sets me apart from other people is that I see design more than something aesthetic or commercial, I see it as my way of life, what I wear, what I consume, my home, everything is related to design more than my profession and it is what I live for (my life is based on the fusion and aesthetic).

By already doing, I design my life is what I share with people, so it is how I have made all my projects known, I love showing my day to people, and above all I love making them consumers aware, I think that that’s why I managed to connect with them.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Passion, you may not have the talent, and also you may not be the most disciplined, but when you do things because you like them you will never see them as work and you manage to express it.
