Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Wilson.
Hi Kim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Well, let me say that I am a proud mother of 2, a glam mother of one glam daughter., and most importantly a child of God. This is why I started my journey in the medical field for over 20 years in Miami. I chose that field because I wanted to do something that I feel would benefit people, family, and friends. I loved the hands-on care for people and watching their faces as the care that was given made them feel so much better.
While working in the medical field during Covid-19 it became scary, hard, and uneasy, not knowing what was going on in the world, seeing doctors come in from the ICU, in their offices looking at the chest X-rays of many Covid patients and their faces which showed what the world was now going thru. It pushed me to know I no longer wanted to do this anymore.
A friend that I had known for years had been contacting me prior to this and started introducing me to the radio business in the beginning, beginning phase. I started off doing jingles, then black history moments which was so hard. I would come home from a 7a-3p job trying my best to do something I had never done before.! Lol.
Let me say I do come from a background of my father who was an entertainer for over 40 years with many different artists, had traveled many different places, and me and my sister had the opportunity to often watch him rehearse with the different bands and artists. Still, that didn’t mean I had it! But eventually, after I was no longer working I had time now to educate myself.
I started doing radio behind the scenes in August 2019, I progressed to doing many things in radio like being invited to many engagements, (during covid), and learning many different facets of radio. Many were learned on my own. My caring, nurturing, and compassionate ways, helped me while growing my way thru this thing called “radio”.
After the beginning phase, I found my voice and I started doing news, djing (playing records), and speaking to audiences of all sizes, from all across the world. I love this job !! Never did I think I would love doing something as much as medical, but I did! Stepping out into a new beginning is awesome! Never be afraid to try something new.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles I had were coming from a medical field, and now to radio, completely different. Challenges were there, but thru it all thank God because it pushed me to where I am now.

My work is I am a Radio Personality, DJ, News Reporter, and more. I believe I do the work that people want from radio, which is to allow them to have a voice in this world. I specialize in caring, being compassionate, and staying classy in my work. I want to be a light for the world to see.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Social media plays a big part in resources in today’s society. Also, meeting people and marketing.
