Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Corea.
Hi Gloria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hi, Thank you for having me and im excited to be on this platform and tell other’s my story. Hoping it may inspire someone else that want’s to pursue their dreams.
Thirteen years ago, I had signed up for Beauty Schools of America and hoped in becoming a cosmetologist. Those dreams were quickly crushed by the “support system” i had around me at that time. Instead, I ended up pursuing other degrees (Business Administration and Health Management) I’ve been in the healthcare field since 2014. But in 2020, Covid hit and alot of things changed, i moved back to Miami from Seattle in 2021. Having to start all over, i decided to cut some expenses and i remember watching a Gel X/Apres video TikTok and decided to order a kit on Amazon and learn how to do my own nails.
I practiced for about a year before I decided to take my new hobby to the next level and i ended up signing up for Nail Tech/Full Specialist program at New Concept Massage and Beauty School. I enjoyed the staff, having small class, that allowed us to have a hands-on learning experience. By the end of 2022, I started taking clients and My new business Elas Coven, LLC was created and now you can find us on Instagram @Elas_Coven.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, and eventhough it feels like I’ve wasted precious time. I’m glad am finally able to follow my passion, where im able to create art and make other’s happy. Its pure satisfaction, joy and my soul feels at home. For most part, i’ve had to work a full-time job in the morning, to help me fully fund my business. Because of this, i’ve only been able to take clients late afternoons and weekends. Even though it hasn’t been easy I’m extremely proud of how far I’ve gotten and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a specialized Nail Tech, which means I work with Gel products, like; Apres, Builder Gels, Luminary and we’re now providing custom made press on’s, acrylic, waxing services and so much more.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I do my own nails, which surprises alot of people but I’m ambidextrous which helps alot. I’ve also been painting since i was young, thanks to my father, older sister and brother in law. They’re artist too! We’ve been drawing anime & cartoons for years. I also love painting with acrylics, so i do believe this gives me an extra advantage too. Above it all, I’m very passionate, detail oriented about everything I do. I make sure to actively listen to my clients needs and bring their vision to life.
