Meet Natalie Hernandez of HDZ Permit Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie and Leanne Hernandez.

Hi Natalie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
It all started back in March of 2017 when a local window and door company took a chance on a 19-year-old girl that was in need of a job. Not knowing much, I was placed in the permit department and had an amazing mentor.

At the time money was tight and it was difficult to make ends meet, especially while taking on the responsibility of being the guardian of my 15-year-old sister. Leanne and I were welcomed with open arms in the company and eventually, she became an employee as well. Throughout our time there, we were open to learning everything and anything in our respective departments.

At the height of the pandemic, we both lost our jobs and it felt like it was the end of the world. Not really knowing what was in store for us, we continued looking for a way to work until one day we received a phone call. This phone call came from a former installer who needed help obtaining a permit for a client of theirs. Once we completed the project, a lightbulb went off!

This is when HDZ Permit Solutions was born!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t always easy. Starting HDZ took time, dedication, and lots of patience. While working full-time and studying, HDZ was worked on during lunch breaks, late nights, early mornings, and weekends. There were times when we would work 16+ hours a day and we felt defeated.

In those moments, it crossed our minds that maybe it wasn’t in the cards for us. Thankfully, our hard work paid off and now we are fortunate enough to work with our 20+ contractors which have helped make our dream a reality.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The best part of our city most definitely has to be the fact that we are a culturally diverse community. We get to experience an array of ethnic foods and get to witness a variety of cultural practices that usually you’d have to travel thousands of miles to see and experience.

1,000% of the traffic has to be the worst!
