Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille De Armas.
Camille, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my photography business a few months after my son was born, in 2019. I felt that strong desire to document and remember every little detail of him, as I was witnessing how fast he was growing. I loved to take pictures and I wanted to learn how to take better, more beautiful photos.
That’s when I started my journey and never went back! I serve sentimental moms like me and I thrive to give them timeless, heartwarming images of themselves and their little ones. I absolutely love what I do.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth, but it was one of the best roads I ever took. The biggest struggle for me was definitely the business side. How do I create a business? How do I market myself? How will people hear about me? Everything was new, but I was determined to learn how to run a business.
I didn’t know anything about photos or business when I first started. I had to learn everything from scratch but having a goal and following my dreams were what kept me going. The key is to never give up. Take breaks when necessary, and always come back. Write your goals down so you remember every day why you are doing this.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a motherhood and family photographer in Miami. I specialize in maternity, newborn, and family photos. My favorite thing is to take pictures of moms with their babies. Moms are always behind the camera, snapping quick photos of their kids, and they are never in the pictures with them. I love to capture that bond, that love they share, and freeze it into a forever memory.
Today, I have so many photos and memories of my family, and my son as he was a baby (he’s now almost 4!). Yes, you can take pictures with your phone, but how many times are you going to scroll on your mobile and look at the thousands of pictures you took over the last 4-5 years?
I take beautiful and intentional portraits of moms and their babies, of their families. Frame-worthy pictures to hang on your wall, to create a beautiful album. Tangible images that will speak to you, bring you back in time as you look at them, and photos that are at your disposition to show your friends and family.
What’s next?
I plan on growing my business and maybe even expend it to Europe, as I am French! My dream would be to travel between France and Miami and keep photographing beautiful families around the world.
